Tapering off of prednisone with entocort

Alright, so my doctors have finally cleared me to start tapering off of the 40 mg daily prednisone that I've been on for over a year. [Hallelujah!!] My doctors are going to be putting me on three tablets of entocort daily during the taper because it's supposed to cut down on the side effects of tapering off of prednisone. I was wondering if anybody else has gone through this? I had never heard of this before, but how my doctors explain it makes sense.

Entocort did nothing for me. I hope it reduces the side effects you get from prednisone. I have been off prednisone for a month and all of my joints hurt like hell.

Wow, I have never heard of this. What side effects do they expect to prevent specifically? I'm glad you've been cleared to taper. I hope it goes well.

Diesanduhr, I think it's supposed to decrease the amount of bleeding and mood swings [my two main symptoms associated with prednisone taper usually]. Speaking of, I had massive amounts of blood today and have had d since yesterday. e_e; I want to enjoy my Christmas gosh dang it! And, I'm still waiting for the prescription for the entocort in the mail from my doctor, so I don't even have that yet.
