Has anyone else experienced remission through diet and supplements alone?

My Crohn's was pretty bad at one point with a stricture forming. I tried Imuran- which caused more side effects than anything and Remicade, which I became immune to after a year. At the same time I was exploring natural treatments and found raw goat milk really helped my stomach feel better and lessen symptoms. It helped so much that I got my own dairy goats! I practically lived on nothing but goat milk for a while, especially during flares. I also started fermenting things like kombucha and sauerkraut and raw milk keifer. I had occasional flare ups, but still steadily showing improvement. I also cut out foods that made me feel sick, like coffee, chocolate, cow dairy, bread (gluten), refined sugar, spicy foods and raw vegetables. I started on some strong probiotics and turmeric and after a year I was in remission!

during the last year of my Crohn's symptoms, I experienced some non-bowel symptoms, like arthritis, complex migraines, panic attacks, heart palpitations and some skin inflammation. I started Turmeric supplements as well as vitamin D and Magnesium. after that, those symptoms went away too. It's been 3 years now since I had any bowel symptoms and over a year of having any non-bowel symptoms.

I slowly added things back into my diet as I could handle them. I can now enjoy coffee, chocolate and pretty much everything. (although I try and maintain a healthy diet!) I still take daily Turmeric, Probiotics, Magnesium Citrate and a multivitamin with lots of B-vitamins in them. Ill probably take this combination of supplements for life.

Anyone else have success though natural means?

Hi, I love this post! Thank you for sharing your experience. Can i ask what kind of goats? I have been thinking of getting some but not sure what breed would be best. I was thinking Nigerian Dwarf, since they have a higher butterfat of 6 to 10% and wouldn't produce more then i could use.

Awesome on your efforts ~ even better that they are totally helping!!:dusty:

Be well, God bless ;)

I started off with Nigerians, then when I started sharing milk with family and friends, I needed more quantity, so I got Saanens. I love both, so I mixed the two and started breeding Mini Saanens. A lot of my milk customers came on a weekly basis and had autoimmune conditions that were helped with the milk. After a while, I had about 24 regular customers!

This is inspiring! What Tumeric supplement do you use, as I hear some are better than others?

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the reply. What an accomplishment. Mini Saanens ~ wow! I had kinda thought there would be extra milk ;) I will hopefully be ready by springtime to have additions to our family. We are one of those 'no spray' families so I know they would be lovin the grounds. ( We will see...)

I am curious about which tumeric too, since i do take a type but if there is something better i would love to know.

thanks again, be well n God bless
