Anyone else have this problem?

The two triggers for me are coffee and deep fried fat smells.

It's a morning ritual for me. I get up and put the coffee on, and while it's brewing, I go take a dump (the second dump of the day usually after the earlier waker-upper). I suppose I really should give up coffee, but I'd be lost without the caffeine buzz first thing in the morning. It's a controlled situation though, as I can relieve myself in the home setting.

Second trigger is the smell of deep fried fat. French fries, KFC, fish 'n' chips, egg rolls. Just the smell gives me the runs. Maybe it's because of my lack of a gall bladder? At any rate, it's always bad news. I can do okay on baked fries and battered fish though. Still, it's not great, but I don't have the olfactory reactions.

Oh, and the smell of popcorn too, but to a much lesser degree.

I never had the runs caused by smells, but I have had meat smells trigger nausea. It always happened to me when I started taking imuran.

Popcorn is one for me too GJG! Another one, anything that is kind of "hot" or "spicy." If I smell it, my stomach starts to hurt right away.

Weird! I thought I was the only one. I guess I should've known better! LOL

For me, I don't really think it's the smell, per se. It's just the thought of sitting down to eat a meal, sometimes. I'll get all nauseous before I eat. It's kinda like my intestines are like, "You're not really gonna eat that, are you?" But they'll do that even if it's not something hard to digest. Just if they don't feel like having me eat, I guess. My intestines really do have their own mind.

Hi!
I GET THIS!
I used to get it when I make spaghetti. Very strong tomato, garlic and onion. Someone made me some pasta with chili paste and I couldnt eat it because I felt sick just smelling it!
Really strong smelling food does it for me.
It's odd isnt it?

Yep. My brain works that way. It says, "Hey, smell that great food court." Then, the saliva starts forming in the mouth, activating the stomach to produce stomach acid, that begins the whinning of the bowels. That in turn, the colon says, "THINGS ARE MOVING, here we come!"

The strangest though....I can get ready to go somewhere and no sooner than I hit the front door to leave, I have to go back to the backroom. It's a trigger reaction my brain has. YUK!

This is a kind of interesting one. I haven't noticed any particular food smells but had a strange and kind of unpleasnt experience last night.

Was at a committee meeting for the Bodywork college I study at - meeting at another members house. The room was quite heavily scented with airfreshener of some kind. I never like these things at the best of times, but last night it was a shocker and it seemeed to get stronger and stronger.

After about an hour my insides started to feel like they were seriously preparing for a big D episode, a feeling I haven'd had for quite some time as I have had C instead these past months. I dashed to the loo and produced nothing but gas, but the feeling was pretty intense. So, I guess it wasn't that bad, but i did feel really unwell for a time.

Felt sickish for the rest of the evening after getting home too. Not nice. So, I guess any kind of smell can trigger nasty stuff in the stomach eh?
