Well I had a telephone call today from G I at Oxford. He has a very strong accent so was quite hard for me to understand everything be said. He has had the report of my daughters MRI of her abdomen. He says there is a 3 cm thickening in her Terminal ileum. He thinks it may be inflammation and she is to continue with the Infliximab infusions. I think everything else looked ok.

Could this thickening be why we are having the constipation issues and pain after certain foods ?
We have an appt with him in a couple of weeks so I'm sure he'll answer it then.
Would the 3 cm be the thickness or length of the affected area?
He seemed pleased with the progress Ella has made so I have my fingers tightly crossed we are heading in a good direction.
Thanks Steph x

Given the aperture of the small bowel I would hazard a guess and say the 3cm is the length of the affected area and not the depth.

The thickening present will certainly narrow down the bowel and when it is the small bowel it doesn't take a lot of thickening to do that. In doing so it can certainly be a cause for pain and constipation. The thing the GI needs to work out now is whether the thickening is inflammation or scar tissue. Continuing the Infliximab will give you the answer in time.

Good luck with the appointment and I hope all continues to go well! :ghug:

Thanks Dusty, I hope it's not scarring, it's been a very long 15 months since diagnosis so really hoping for a solid remission before the puberty hormones hit! :ybatty:

I hear you loud and clear! Here's to remission and an absence of scarring! :wine:
