....how long did it take everyone to lose their moonface after the joy that is prednisone? I'm down to 10mg, nearly there!! Have really ballooned in the last couple of weeks though and also have a buffalo bump to boot! Have only put on 3kgs of the 9 kgs I lost but am beginning to feel like the Michelin man, it's actually kind of uncomfortable, am very much looking forward to my face returning to it's normal proportions!

Mine is weird - more Moon Chin than Moon face. I have two and a third on the way. And my Apple Belly is more of a Melon Belly. I'm starting to look like a miniature sumo wrestler!

I get the moon chin, too. I hate it!!!! It can be so uncomfortable. It puts pressure on my neck when I sit in my recliner. Ugh.

Seems to me it takes a couple of months for the moon to go down, but you feel the effects for at least a year, sometimes more. I am getting a bit of a moon face (and chin) from the steroid in the enema. I know my appetite is up from it. I guess it hasn't been long enough since my last bit on pred, so my body is still very sensitive to it.

It gives people a false sense of your health, which is really annoying. They look and see a nice round, full face and a nice round belly, the extra pounds you put on - and think that you weren't all that sick anyway. :ybatty: I have seen it too many times in the eyes of people I work with.

Hi Becca! I'm doing ok I think, started aza last week and finish pred end next week, bit nervous about what will happen between then and when the aza starts working....he doesn't seem too concerned although did give me a prescription for about a million pred 'just in case' eek! Think he'd be quite happy if the aza fails so he can give me humira, he said it'd be his preference but it's not funded unless the aza doesn't work so I guess well have to wait and see. Feeling reasonably good at the moment but I feel like it's all on a bit of a knife edge if you know what I mean

Oh a year? I was hoping someone would say a couple of weeks! And yes, am hearing that I'm looking well a lot, ironic isn't it?!

Thats good takes about 6 months to get full effect.
Lol funny about the pred, he put me on humira while i was still on aza i wasnt even bad but u got to fill out a diary thingy and fill it out over a week like how bad is ur pain and how many times you move ur bowels and that and if u r bad enough the government will fund it for u.
Ive been naughty ive cut bad from 50mg 3x a day to 50mg 1x a day of aza, kinda a denial thing really tho i feel good.

Hi :)

The Remicade has been great , My hair is falling out and my GI said it can be the remicade but other than that my crohns is great , joint pains are gone, eating far too much again lol.
Yeah its about 2 weeks away now , everything is done now , so just sitting back and waiting for it to happen. So glad my moonface and all is gone. There are no pics of me from my moonface days , i was a bit camera phobic during that time and that really wouldn't work on your wedding day :)
Hope your doing ok too

Don't despair, I think mine has normally only taken around a month or so to disappear (to go down enough for me to not really notice it anymore) :). But it depends how much of it is the Pred alone, since it makes you ravenous too! If my chubby face (along with my tummy) are also due to me pigging out during my steroid high, it might take a bit longer and require a little effort on my part. Do you think you've gained additional weight through eating more or do you think it's all cellular?

Joleen, good luck for the wedding! Really glad you got all your Crohns issues sorted in time. How's the hair doing at the moment? Wishing you a VERY uneventful 2 weeks followed by an amazing day.

Hi Ian, god I really don't know, Definitly eating more but was pretty much not eating at all before steroids...just in the last 2 or 3 weeks since I've puffed up and it does feel fluidy so who knows...down to 5mg today yay! Guess I'll soon find out!
