Ok I can tell 100% that I'm about to flare again. I went down to .5 pred again 3 days ago, this is my 3rd attempt at trying to taper off 10mg. I even had to go back up to 15mg the last time. I've been on pred since early Dec.

Obviously I need to get off pred. Now.

Does it make sense, to go ahead and let myself fully flare? It's painfully obvious to me that Remicade isn't doing the trick for me right now. They said next infusion which is in APRIL btw...APRIL. That they will up my dosage of Rem, but will that work?

I mean as far as I can tell, the only thing keeping me from flaring is the Pred.

So my theory is to go ahead and taper off the pred, flare like hell and show the docs this.

Maybe if I prove to them how bad my flare is getting they will listen to me and help me rather than tell me to wait till APRIL and just double my Rem dosage to 10? (I was on 5 since last July.)

Does this make sense? Or am I cutting my nose off to spite my face?

I am SO SICK OF TAKEN PREDNISONE.

Is there some limit to the time you can be on prednisone before you start having health complications from it? Or is it just used as long as needed?

I guess that would be my question if I was using it.

I would call the doctor and see if something can be done. I am sure the doctor does not want you to go into a full blown flare.

I have been on the pred the same amount of time...Don't rush it though. I have gone back up twice now and I am glad to do it once the pain starts coming back again...cuz really...do I want to be back in the hospital for another 12 days or more just to say I told you so??

Keep with it. I know it's frustrating...but whats worse, the moon face and the hunger or the PAIN AND THE BLEEDING...FOR REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.

I was put on Prednisone when I was initially diagnosed and stayed on it a year..
It took a few tapers before I was right off it.

Sounds like you're not quite ready to taper down to .5 just yet.
I would let your doctor know...
you don't want to go right into a full flare.

Maybe you can stay on it until your next infusion and THEN taper off? The higher dosage of Remi might help you taper off the pred easier. Also - if you get worse in the next week, call and ask if you can go six weeks inbetween infusions instead of 8.

Walgreens sells it... but you have to ask for it because they keep it behind the counter. They may have to order it for you (which takes 1 or 2 days)
