thoughts on tysabri?

i was wondering about peoples opinions on this drug my doc said he has yet to get someone to start this drug mainly bc people are scared of the side affects for those that are on this drug can you explain to me if you are seeing any of the side affects? cause im running out of options its either tysabri cimzia or surgery now i have tryed everything else

That's exactly what I heard. People are scared of the incurable brain infection. (I think that's what it was anyways.)
I wouldn't hesitate to try Cimzia. I had pretty good luck with Humira for a little while and am having great luck with Remicade now. I'm hoping that if Remicade stops working I will get a nice long stretch from Cimzia.

I started Tysabri 2 weeks ago after failing almost everything else. I am already seeing good results and can't wait for my next infusion in 2 weeks. Yes, I am afraid of developing PML (progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy) the incurable brain infection mentioned above, but I had to decide if taking the very, very small chance of developing that was worth it to improve my quality of life, and I believe that it is. Other people may not. I was tired of living with the pain, bowel urgency, etc. every day. My doctor's office has 6 patients on Tysabri now, and all are doing well. Good luck with your decision.

I would love more opinions on this drug too. My sister just started Cimzia after everything else failing, and though it's still too early to tell it doesn't seem to be working all that well. They're talking surgery but it'll take out a major chunk of the intestines if they do. So if this drug is really helpful and outways the risks in most people's opinions I might bring it up to her and the doctors.
