Hello everyone. For those who haven't read my earlier post, a quick summary. I have crohns disease and overactive bladder with cystitis and scar tissue. I also have shoulder and neck problems and have been seeing a chiropractor who has been doing acupuncture. I take Asacol, Pantaprazole, Elmiron. I also have started taking omega 3, probiotics, and digestive enzymes.

Ok, so for the past week or so I have had a sort of consistent throbbing. It's mainly in the back of the neck and head. I have also had palpatations in my heart but I have had those for years (I had the normal heart tests years ago and said it was ok.) I also noticed today that if I press on a certain place in my stomach I can feel a fairly strong heartbeat. My heart will often beat fairly hard too at times, not tremendously fast. The spasms or throbbing or whatever it is in my neck and head and back to a degree have been keeping me up most nights.

Some theories I have are perhaps nutrient deficiency. This is certainly possible with the crohns and malabsorption. It could be a nerve disorder of some kind which is being aggravated by the acupuncture. I realize it could be anxiety, but I'm pretty sure its not. Is the stomach thing or any of this something to worry about, any ideas would be helpful, thank you.

Hey Crohnzin,

I can't answer most of your questions but the heartbeat in your abdomen that you are feeling may be the abdominal aorta and it is quite normal to be able to feel it.

HTH, :)

Hiya

I have a thread on here called 'The Osteopath' see if you can find it, I can't!
but I have had the most horrendous pain in my neck and head, I thought I had a brain tumour! I was so anxious, I started grinding my teeth! It woke me up several times a night.
Of course, I didn't have a brain tumour, I had Arnold's Neuralgia!
If you can't find my thread, google it, it's also called Occipital Neuralgia.
Doc gave me a 28 day course of Amiltriptyline, and I had 3 goes with the osteopath, who manipulated the muscles and I am better now!
I believe that the palpitations are anxiety from the pain in your head, the not knowing and it scares you, right?
Once you get a dx for these pains, the palps will stop, and my teeth grinding has too!
good luck

We need an "Ask Dusty" search option on this forum!! She can and does find everything!!!

And Chronzin, I agree with Joan that anxiety can not only cause heart palpitations but it can also cause you to be more sensitive to it which sort of starts a vicious cycle.

You guys may be right, but either way the throbbing in my head and neck and fast, hard palpitations get pretty severe. I also got scared the other day because I read something about aortic aneurysms and that probably didn't help, lol.
