Tight throat - did something not make it past my swallow reflex?

Something's jammed in my throat. My throat was a bit tight and not right before, and I just ate a few pieces of dried fruit and it feels like there's a piece of dried banana or something just stuck there. Had a few sips of soda - just belching and can't dislodge it, if it is indeed something to dislodge.

I can breathe. It just feels uncomfortable, like it's scratching. Earlier, I thought I was having thyroid irritations. No, I don't think it's a medical emergency. Belching a bit. WTH? I haven't been diagnosed, but understand that Crohn's can hit the upper GI tract as well (throat). What are the symptoms for that? I don't get, or have not experienced anaphylaxis before and it doesn't feel like throat's closing up.

Well, it seems I still have food in my stomach from 5 hours ago. Got a whiff of the onions as I stuck fingers down my throat to try and dislodge what was irritating me. The lump is still there, although I did salvage a piece of coconut. The onions are fermenting - I wonder if they'll sprout and grow? Maybe that's the cause of my intestinal thickening - a damn onion patch!

I dont know, something doesnt seem right. could be something very serious so if you do feel tightening more: get to ER.

Thyroid? swollen glands?

worth going to doctor right away... what may seem like nothing, can be a major symptom.

let us know, and are you keeping a good journal of all foods you eat, how you feel and of course the BM color, and size, how often etc.

have you had the fingerstick food allergy test done? It is simple, can take several weeks but you get results and you can see what foods you might be allergic too.

It wasn't constricting - just a tightness. My thyroid's checked out fine. I Just had them draw blood on Friday due to some other issue (falling apart at the seams), but this was coupled in the end (after I tried the two finger rule) with reflux.

I'm not allergic to any foods - although am aware we can become allergic to foods over time. My mother developed an allergy to stone fruit and berries when going through menopause. But she recognized it for what it was and just avoided that stuff for a while. Nothing serious.

I haven't had the fingerstick test - or maybe I have. Is it like when they draw your blood for god I can't remember. It's a test they prick your finger for, but that's instant.

Yes you can develop allergies. My daughter who has eaten so healthy has developed a major allergy to dairy and a not so severe allergy to wheat gluten and almonds.
She had those all of her life and then became allergic to them.

My other daughter with IBD, cant be checked for food allergies yet because of the immunosuppresants she was on and now the cortifoam. But she is on a strict diet to see if something she eats may be part of the problem.

something is helping.... her symptoms have gotten so much better.
hope you find what helps you. sorry to hear everything seems to be happening at once

Sorry that your girls have food allergies. It sucks to be looking at the labels on everything. Been there, done that. I'm getting an endoscope in a couple of weeks. I think we're trying to figure out if this is related to the possible Crohn's theory, which is more like an unproven fact at this point (just requiring a 'visual' to confirm). I'm now on prednisone -yuck, which might help with skin issues I've newly developed in the past year or so and come on badly in the heat.
