Do you take them both the same day or leave a couple of days between your humira injection and Mtx dose?

I will ask the Rheumo of course ;)

When Grace had humira every two weeks we did both shots at the same time, the doc said it was fine.

We plan on doing it the same time - figuring get over the yuck all at once .
But was nt sure if others did it differently .

We thought the same as we knew it would be upsetting for Grace.

One thing we did do for the first few times was give the shots around 3 or 4 pm because if she would have a reaction we wanted to see it and not be waked up in the dead of night.

M had weekly Humira shots which were on Wednesdays (same time as Modern Family on TV ;) ) and we gave MTX Friday nights so she could have the weekend to recover. She didn't mind having the shots spread out, I once asked if she wanted them at the same time and she looked it at me like I was crazy lol. I think she just got used to our schedule.

When Claire was little and got Enbrel 2x weekly, Tuesday was Enbrel day and Friday was Enbrel and MTX. We were instructed, at the time, not to give Enbrel when there was a fever but to not d/c MTX without doc advising and that she could have that - fever or not. Now that was a long time ago. :) It'll be interesting to see what he advises.

I forget, has he had Mtx before? Our docs says more of a chance of the nausea etc with pills than injection. If that is the case I would plan MTX for a night before a calmer day.

We were told not to do them on the same day. We did humira on Sunday Mtx on Wednesday to spread it out. We also chose a show to coordinate it with which helped to keep the mind off of.

If he has side effects from Humira then I would separate them if he's just starting the MTX. If would confound your recognition of MTX side effects to do them together. Plus he may have side effects from both and be really sick for a day or two so if you're going to do them together for the first time I'd do them on a Friday or Saturday to give him time to recover. I would also premed with antihistamine.

We did MTX oral on Friday's because he would feel really tired the next day and it was the weekend. We did Humira EO Wednesday I think (it's been a while).

I spoke with the Rheumo
If DS had not been on Mtx before then we were to give one wait a day and give the other but since he has been on Mtx before (10 weeks) they said it was fine to give the same day .
Humira day was fixed since he has been on it for over a year.
He gets fatigue the day after.
We gave the Mtx on Thursday night and humira Friday night .
No issues from the Mtx .

He was able to swim in competition on Saturday .

Great to hear he has no side effects! MTX works like magic for M's arthritis, hope it'll start working for your son soon!

Thanks Maya
He needs it
Back hands wrists shoulders and knees were a big issue today.
Really beginning to hate arthritis .
At least he can still move all his joints .

I assume if he can t move something its time to call the Rheumo

Oh your poor son, he sounds just like M (add in jaw and heels). When M can't walk or move something we know it's time for steroids...I hope it doesn't get to that.
