Hey everyone.
So I have been off prednisone for the past 8 weeks (horray) and on azathioprine for the past 10... And when ppl ask how things are, I just don't know what to say!

I find myself often overly tired, especially when I don't get my 8 hours( which is hard as a uni student - I end up taking 2 hour naps every second day) yet I only have 1 Bm a day and it is typically quite normal. This tiredness really prevents me from being sociable or outgoing.
My only intestinal problems occur at the end of the day when my gut makes all kinds of crazy noises and it feels very uncomfortable (sometimes preventing me from sleeping). I get unpleasantly gassy ( the "wet" kind) but never full on diarrhea.

I should mention that I'm not following any specific diet... But I'm confused as to why I don't have urgent needs for Bms ( like most ppl on this forum) yet I still feel tired all the time!

It could be the Azathioprine making you tired, it's a common side-effect. Are you having regular blood tests since starting Aza just to make sure your immune cells are at an ok level?

Not everyone that has Crohn's has diarrhea as a symptom. Some experience a lot of constipation or a mix of the two. Fatigue is one symptom of Crohn's that a lot of us have but can also be caused by anemia or B-12 deficiency, so it's a good idea to get your iron (hemoglobin) and b-12 checked. Also, getting in some excerisze early in the day and drinking water during the day can help with fatigue.

Hope you feel better!

Thanks for the responses! It eases the mind to know I'm not alone

Just so you know I am having my blood checked regularly and my nurse says my results are perfect, but I'll mention B-12 and iron next time around. I also do weight training 4-5 days a week always in the morning.

I guess I'll just have to start managing my sleep more thoroughly.

In my 10 years of taking Humira, which has kept me in remission pretty much the whole time, I've forgotten to do a weekly injection (or two, or three) here and there. (Hey, at least I'm honest! I was pretty young when I started the Humira and I've gotten way more responsible in the past 4-5 years.)

The first thing I notice when the Humira starts wearing off and my condition starts sliding is the fatigue. I have a week or two of really noticeable fatigue before the diarrhea/loose stool starts, and then it's another week or so until the really bad pain kicks in. But the first thing I notice is the fatigue. I'm still not happy with my "good" fatigue levels, but that's a story for another day.

So I'm wondering if your inflammation might not be 100% under control. Maybe it's good enough that you're not feeling pain and having BM problems, but there's still something brewing, adjusting digestion? Remember that our only source of energy is the calories we consume, so when our digestion isn't right, the energy levels might be one of the first things to slip.
