To eat or not to eat?

I'm starving. My stomach is making hunger noises, not just angry noises. But 2 hours after breakfast (which was only an hour and a half ago), I was so nauseous I called my mom from the bathroom while she was at work. (I'm 23 and we live on opposite ends of the country. It was a tad pathetic.) But I just got out of the bathroom again and I feel empty. I want food and yet I'm afraid it's going to make things worse to eat. What should I do??

Do you have herbal teas handy? Ginger tea or peppermint tea may help calm the gut down.

I do, actually. I was also planning on asking my boyfriend to stop for some ginger ale on his way home. Ginger tea often helps my nausea but it was actually unappealing during my brief nausea attack earlier. Mint sounds pleasant though, I'll try a cup of that.

But that still doesn't solve the problem of whether or not I should put any solid food in me, and if so, what...I'm in the state right now where foods that would probably kill me are the most appealing things in the world...like, sausage and pepperoni pizza...oh man...

When I get so sick that I'm feeling that way and its a battle between holding your weight on and not feeling like crap I just eat what sounds good because I know I'll feel like crap anyhow.

Yeah I'll figure something out. Maybe some toast with cottage cheese. That actually sounds pretty good.

My boyfriend always tries to make me eat chicken broth when I get really sick. I am so tired of that stuff now because it always makes me think of being really sick.
Usually I'll force myself to drink the broth and some Sprite Zero. The warmth usually makes me feel less hungry.
I don't know about you but if I eat solids when I am really sick I have to run to the bathroom in a few minutes so I tend to stay away from anything that isn't liquid.

I would try the toast but not the cottage cheese. Maybe possibly steam up some plain chicken cutlets with the toast just to not make you weaker from being sick.

Apple sauce and gingerale are my go to foods. Sometimes just something in your stomach helps. Even if it's only a few bites. I hope you feel better.

I'm all about some ginger ale when I get like that - a little bit of sugar to keep the blood sugar going.

hungar

Try something...the problem with us we get down to low...can you get a script for anti nauseau or something....GIngerale always does me good..S :sorry:

I use ginger ale (diet because of the diabetes) and it may seem weird but I like scrambled eggs when nothing else sounds good. It reminds me of when I was younger and feeling better. They usually sit well.

i think i'd go with the mainly liquid diet while you're like this... and if you do want to try anything solid, i'd go really gently, little and often rather than a meal. like a plain biscuit every hour or so & see how it goes. if you're really struggling to keep anything solid down, i'd avoid solids altogether for a couple of days and get some nutrition drinks. hope you feel better soon!
