This is defo a question that can only be asked with those who understand!

I'm 26 and have had crohns for ten years, currently on fortnightly humira injections. I feel as though my crohns is gradually getting worse as the years go by, I don't know if others feel that way too?

Well anyway, I'm just wondering how you lot feel after you've been to the toilet? I only ask because sometimes I feel like I'm recovering from minor surgery or something after I've been sometimes. I don't feel like that everytime I've been to the toilet, but sometimes I feel like my trips to the loo can be so traumatic it takes me hours to recover. I basically feel exhausted, shaky, cold and feverish, and extremely weak. I have to lie down and recover for quite a while....does anybody else get similar symptoms? And how do you combat it?

I've just had one of these events, and as I was on the toilet I felt like crying, and my body was just cramping up like crazy and I felt like I'd basically pushed out my insides (sorry if that's TMI). But now, I'm exhausted and all shaky and I've got to lie down.

I've come to realise one of my problems is black tea, tat definitely makes my toilet trips worse, so unfortunately I think I'm really gonna have to give that one up.

Any feelings/advice is much welcomed!

I am sorry you are feeling that way. Sometimes, I feel like it is a trigger for me to go other times. At other times, I feel like I am in the bathroom for a long time. Hoping the best for you.

Oh ye Dt. I used to go to the loo be there for 30/40 mins most times . Then i felt like i had been run over by a train. I needed to rest up for a while after. No strength left in me barely got downstairs most times. Had to lie on bed for awhile 😕

Me too.But it's usually during the night when it's that bad.Nausea,chills.pain etc.And do you know the worst thing ? My hubby sleeps through it all and has no idea of the trauma I went through.Hahaha......as to your question how do I feel afterwards ? Relieved !!!

Hi Daytripper. I know exactly what you mean. It is so painful and draining everytime I have a BM. And I'm going about 10x a day. I just got out of hospital on Thursday for a bad flare but these feelings have been going on for months and haven't resolved after my hospital stay. I thought for sure I had another perianal abscess, but nothin. It very stressful when I'm at work 9 hours a day and have to have multiple BMs that, like you said, take hours to recover from. By the time I'm feeling better, it's back to the loo. I feel like my insides are going to come pouring out when I'm standing up right. Really hating life right now.

Yep. Even during better times the first time I go in the morning usually ends with me laying in bed for a bit recovering. Stomach hurts, nauseous, tired etc.

I wrote a similar post saying how ill I felt after I've been to the toilet. Do you dry heave or vomit sometimes when your going to the toilet? I did the other day because my cramps where so bad. :(

I have had those sorts of symptoms, but there have also been lots of times where I've felt great after a BM. Suddenly feel a lot better and have loads of energy.

Weird eh?

Thanks for your replies everybody- I eventually got over my post toilet feelings later in the day, then went to the toilet the next morning and felt exactly the same! I felt like crying for quite a while afterwards, it's so physically and emotionally draining!

I think if I had a hubby, I would prefer him to sleep through it than to hear the noises that come out of me! Do you lot all get the embarrassing noises too? I just get so embarrassed by them, I keep thinking one day I will get over it, but I'm still embarrassed by them even after ten years.....I wish I had a 'so what' attitude to them!

Can I ask KMod, what is a perianal abscess? If you don't mind me asking. I'm sorry to hear you're feeling down, this disease is really hard sometimes, it is so physically and mentally draining.

The mornings are most definitely the worst for me, luckily *touch wood* I don't usually have a problem in the day, but then before bedtime is also a bad time for me....and I just sit there wishing my bathroom was soundproof.

I have definitely sat there heaving before whilst I've been on the toilet Rocky Robin, sometimes I've had to swap what I'm doing (sorry if it's TMI) but I have to sit on the toilet, get up and be sick, then sit back on the toilet....failing that, I have to get a bucket! I don't know if others suffer with this too? It doesn't happen a lot to me, but there are definitely times that happens to me.

Yes I have actually felt better before after my BM, it is very weird! Sometimes my body feels a lot lighter and I feel 'cleared out' and just happier. I just pray for the day for a normal BM, cannot remember the last time I had one, and I just think about the daft things I took for granted before I was diagnosed!

Oh ye iv sat on loo with a bowl /bucket under my chin. Aint it great !! What a disease to have. Its a dosey all right . Love n best wishes to all 💕💋

I keep a plastic mixing bowl in the laundry basket.
And only this morning I had three attempts to walk to the shops. On the fourth attempt I got half way and had to call in at my dental surgery ,and then the library,to use the loo.
It's a good way of saving money,as I could only do the most important shopping, far to risky to browse.hahaha

The plastic mixing bowl is a good idea, I keep a bucket in the airing cupboard but it's a little too far out of reach! I like your thinking scottsma- I'm very pleased that I have this disease in the age of online shopping, otherwise god knows what I would do....I only went shopping the other day and I had to ring my dad to come pick me up, I got home and spent the rest of the day recovering on the sofa, I truly did shop til I dropped haha.

I had to dash out of James Bond "Spectre" the other night, very distressing tbh. Sometimes I feel very shaken after bad diarrohea, especially after 3 or 4 movements within a couple of hours. I get so absolutely shattered & have to sleep.
Rgds

Yes that's just how I feel Grant, shaken and just absolutely drained. Oh I'm sorry you had to come out of James Bond, it's awful when this disease ruins what should be an enjoyable experience. Last time I went the cinema I had a big panic attack for some reason, I think I might start an at home cinema with DVDs!
