Wow, what a great morning :ycool:. It was forecast to be 41*celsius. So I bravely threw on my tankini and board shorts and headed down to surf club (surf life saving) with kids and hubby. Whilst I didn't do the run swim rum or the board races, I did just laze in the crystal clear icy cold water and I stayed in for well over an hour. It was just Devine :crab::crab:. Pleased to report there were no leaks etc etc, oh and the temperature hit 43* Celsius. So was an absolutely boiling hot day. Afterwards went and sat up in the club house under the air conditioner and completely forgot I even had a Stoma or a non healing bum. Best day I have had since the surgery. I can't wait until next Sunday to do it again.

On the down side there has been a 4 metre white pointer doing laps of our beach over the past fortnight so I didn't venture out too far.:eek:utahere:

Jaano :mademyday:

That's just terrific to hear - I remember how worried you were about going swimming again. It must have given you such a good feeling to be able to spend that time in the ocean. I always feel that the ocean is such a great healer - emotionally as well as physically. Your bum is probably feeling better for it, too!

Just be careful of those sharks.

Yay for swimming!! And like Susan said, it must have made your sore bum feel much better :)

That's fantastic.
If the shark tries to get ya - open yer bag and poop on 'im!

Does it mean we're in for a very hot summer?
Lots more swimming for you Janette!

Today I had a completely unplanned ocean swim. Went in in board shorts and swim shirt, didn't even think to put sticker over bag filter. Guess what, it was all fine, had a lovely time and once again almost forgot I had a Stoma UNTIL the maltesers we were eating in the car gave me loads of output. so much so that I looked pregnant with my gas/ poop filled bag. It did crack me up. Will remember not to eat too much chocolate.

Brilliant!!! Glad you got into the sea! It's so freeing!!! I have a pic of me in the sea in my bikini but my stomach is so podge in it from all the food I ate that week!! Did you manage to dry your bag out ok? I just whipped mine out and dried it off in the sun lol

Rub it in! We're dealing with negative temperatures right now! lol

But no seriously, I don't have a stoma but my brother does (he has UC) so I know what it can be like to do new things and how proud it makes you

Yes, it's always nice when we can be an emergency flotation device! Thats why I have a two piece. I can fart at will! Tee heee!!!! muaahhhahahaaa!

Yeah, I m thinking of trying a two piece, but wouldn't know where to start. I know, get samples from the companies!

I'm going away for a three week beach holiday over Christmas. We will be swimming, kayaking, fishing and having fun. I am thinking if I had a two piece I could just change over to a dry bag when I get in from adventures for the day? I have just got comfortable and confident with my present rig and am just a little worried that if I change I may end up in a bother. What do you think??

Try the samples now, before you go on holiday. I find the two piece suits an active busy lifestyle. And yes, it's sooo easy to change the bag when it's wet, etc, rather than changing the whole appliance.

I'd definitely experiment with the new rig before I went away, if I were you. You might need to try a few combinations before you find one that suits.

I do all sorts of things in my one-piece - spent 10 days snorkelling in the Galapagos and had no problems.

Yup - I concur with Misty.
Two piece is great for being active including swimming.
You just unclip and change your bag over to a dry one.
Super easy.
Maybe take both and see how you go.

I have contacted some suppliers tonight so will hopefully get to have a trial. Looking forward to the holidays. Going to a town 20 min from port Lincoln. Just hope the bush fires bugger off.

The bush fires have started so early this year - it's a real worry.
Fingers crossed you will be untroubled by them - and you can swim in your two piece like a dolphin! Three blissful weeks!
