Hi
I am 49 and have had Crohn's disease for 20 years, that I know of. I say that because 20 years ago was when I was diagnosed. I do know I suffered for years before that. I have had a colostomy for 17 years, and undergone 13 abdominal surgeries. My crohn's has never really been under control.

I am currently taking remicade and have not had to have surgery for the crohn's for 3 years now, and for me that is a miracle. I have had to have both knees replaced. I also have osteioarthritis, reumaoid arthritis, reflux, migraines, and your standard deficiancies. Vitamin D, vitamin b, and anemia.

I have a new diagnosis of fatty liver that I am trying to figure out, and dealling with a para stomal hernia that all doctors but one are screaming at me to have surgery for. I would so love to have a few weeks with no pain. It feels good to vent to others who can empathize. Thanks for listening!! Best to all!!!

Hi Tracey and welcome!

13 surgeries! My gosh, you poor thing. I'm so sorry to hear your Crohn's Disease have never been under control :(

You mention the vitamin D and vitamin B deficiencies. Which B vitamins are you deficient in? Are you supplementing? What are your levels? This is an area of keen interest for me :)

Also, the title of this thread, "tra". Is that what you meant to have or would you like me to edit it to something else for you?

Again, welcome :) I'm really glad you're here.

Welcome to the forum, Tracey. You've been on quite the ride, not just with your Crohn's but all the other health manifestations.

I don't doubt that you're looking for a break between surgeries! You might want to head over to the Stoma subforum (you'll find it in the General IBD section) and get some advice there about the peristomal hernia. There is at least one member there who has a lot of helpful information to share about hernia and hernia surgery. There also a bunch of us who either have had an ileostomy or colostomy looking for advice...I'm sure you'd have a ton of knowledge to share with us!
