Has anyone got crohns in the transverse colon? I had an appt with a gi and he thinks this is where the problem is as this area is where I get the pain, can it be diagnosed with a colonoscopy? I'm not sure if it can reach up that far? And what were/are your symptoms pain wise? Thanks for your help everyone x x kay x x

Girl interrupted,

Yes, I have Crohn's in my transverse colon. Technically, I believe you can have Crohn's anywhere in you lower or upper GI tract. As for the colonoscopy, the doctors can reach your transverse colon and go all the way to where your small intestine meets your colon. If you look at You Tube, you will find videos of colonoscopies showing the transverse colon.

Girl Interrupted,

I forgot to mention the pain. Before I was diagnosed, my entire stomach hurt. It was just a continuous aching pain. It covered the area from my diaphram down to below my belly button - basicall the entire six-pack area. It hurt even to hug my wife. I soon as I went of prednisone, the pain and inflammation went away.

Hello!

I have a small patch in my transverse colon, another in the ascending colon, and most of it in the sigmoid colon and rectum. I had no abdo pain, only bleeding, mucous and urgency. Thought it was UC to start with until the colonoscopy found the two patches further round.

The colonoscopy should be able to reach as far as the terminal ileum.
