I've recently been on Humira and experienced some negative side effects, so my doctor spoke of using a drug called Symbicor instead. She noted that it works in much the same way as Humira. However, when I searched it online it comes up with an asthma inhaler, although Wikipedia notes it is also used in Crohn's.

Is anyone here using Symbicor or know what kind of drug this is? I'm very confused.

Thank you!

A quick search indicates this is budenoside (though Symbicor is as an inhaler for pulmonary use). Budenoside is the active ingredient in control-released corticosteroid drugs such as Entocort. It's somewhat simplistic/naive for your doctor to say that budesonide and Humira work the same way. Ask your doctor for further explanation on the difference between these two therapy options.

Maybe your doc was referring to simponi????
Symbocort is only for asthma it's the brand name vs Advair another brand name

Simponi is similar to Humira and approved for arthritis
Cimzia is approved for crohns -also similar to Humira
