Hi Astra,
The reason I joined the forum was that someone had told me they had crohns but that no medication was being taken for the diarrhoea, and that the problem was always bad - as it had been for me pre 2006 when I went to live in California.
My GP there trialled me on some medication which was superb, but unfortunately not available back here in Aus when we returned in 2007. But my GP here prescribes an alternative for me called Questran Lite - it's supposed to reduce cholesterol but for me it's a total success!! Couldn't be more normal in fact and I would totally recommend trying it.
I was on prednisone in 2002 and had to have surgery, the prednisone rotted my hips and now I have 2 shiny new ones, but the Questran changed my life. I take immodium, pentasa sachets and Questran and am currently in remission.
Just did a search on Questran and it seems it's known by sufferers, but I hadn't seen anything before and am surprised more don't take it - albeit a bit like drinking lemony wallpaper paste!
