Hi, All,

this is my first post here and before that I have been reading and getting good information from the site.

first of all, I am not sure if I have crohn as I don't exhibit any symptom (my CR surgeon also said that my MRI doesn't look so either)

I have a semi-horseshoe fistula, deep in the muscle. it was diagnosis right after my abscess drainage. since it goes through a lot of muscle, I got two draining setons and was told to wait a few months for a repair surgery, standard procedure. i also had a followup surgery a week later because of heavy night sweat. after initial MRI, surgeon found a missing small ichiorectal abscess from a secondary branch. yeah, i do have a complex fistula.

it's been two months since 2nd surgery. i don't have much pain, just seton and draining irritation. but i have been on 3 courses of antibiotics. first before the last surgery, 2nd after the surgery. after i was off meds, i had a break of lit over a week and all the sudden my bum muscle got super tight and inflamed. then i went on a 3rd course of antibiotics. my right side (trouble one) felt almost as soft as the left during that two weeks. However, after i am off the meds, yet again a few days later my right bum is tight and inflamed again. My surgeon is as frustrated as me i guess because the 2nd MRI done two weeks ago shows no sign of another fistula or abscess.

i already schedule another op with the surgeon to take a look since MRI is not always accurate. my fistula is deep so also hard to tell from outside. last two months felt like an emotional roller coast, and my stress level is through the roof. so i wonder if this whole inflammation is also due to infection or stress. i am profoundly confused now :( if anyone else has a rocky recovery from seton placement and can provide some insight, that would be great! if i have to go through another surgery, so be it. but just hate the feeling of not knowing what's wrong and still have to go under the knife...

Thanks a bunch!

Two days after my bum became harden/ inflamed. I had a big drainage one night. My drain was yellow and no much smell. My bum soft up over the next few days. I m so confused. My surgeon is taking me back to OR next tues. I wonder if I should go ahead or wait till if the same episode happens again? No one likes surgery even if it's a small one :(

Any one has the same experience with draining seton? I don't have much pain. My fistula is through lot of muscle and deep.
