I have never really felt this way before. It has been two weeks since my 4 starting doses and I am about to do my next 2 starters tomorrow. But I already feel great. I am down to going about twice a day, normally one solid one not so much, but way better then I use to be. Hopefully this just gets better. First drug I've taken besides prep that I actually saw some progress.

That's good to hear, glad it's working so well for you.
Are you still take any other drugs with the Humira?

I started Humira on Tuesday and the next day I felt so much better.

Humira has worked well for me, I have been on it for 10 months now. I have gained 20 pounds, have much less arthritis pain, and it healed a fistula. The only down side is it works so well that it caused even more stricturing of my intestines, but thats actually a good thing as it proves its working for me. Now only to cure the stricturing without surgery lol

Woohoo! May it keep on keeping on Ethan! :luigi::luigi::luigi::luigi::luigi::luigi:

:mario2: Yay! See! All that worrying for nothing! May it keep on keeping on! Great sign that it's already working!:banana:

Humira did really good for me when I had the loading dose but after that everything went downhill(I guess because after the loading dose you don't do it as frequently?).

I'm still goig good, got 8 more days before my next 2 shots.
I have had a few people tell my I'm hyper, well no pain for the first time in over 6 months will do that.

That's so awesome :) Progress is a wonderful thang! Here's to enjoying the rest of the summer you guys.

Ethan, can you tell me more? I mean, just about Humira and going on it? Have you had any side effects at all? Where are you having the injections? Will you do them yourself? The doctor I saw at Mayo intends to put me on Humira and 6mp. I am pretty nervous. I am really glad to hear that you are seeing results and having success...

I don't do well with needles...and that is being generous. They did some testing yesterday and 'blew 2 of my veins'. When they were done my hand was wrapped like I had broken it multiple times. And they were talking about it, ick it was horrible. I bad in a 2-pronged way: I get faint and I have severe anxiety about it. So it was not good. Anyway, the doctor initially mentioned Remicade but I don't think I could do tranfusions.

Do you need to get flu shots and TB shots yearly now too? I have so many concerns and questions.:pale:

Hey thatswhatshesaid,

I'll respond to the needle and injection part of it first. I am just like you, dealt afraid of needles and have passes out twice before because of them. You made a good choice doing humira instead of remicade. I was on remicadr before and its way worse on the needle part. They need to keep the infusion needle in your vein for 3hours with remicade and it sucks. But with humira I freaked at first too, giving myself injections? I didn't think I could do that. But the thing with humira is you don't need to use a vein or anything. I just grab some fat on my stomach or leg and inject it into there, wayyt easier then a vein infusion. And another great thing about it is with the humira pen, you can't even see the needle, its all covered up. So then you put it on the skin where you want it to go in and push a button and it shoots into you and you hold it there for 10sec and your done! Its really easy. Also you hardly feel the needle going in cause it goes so quick, you mostly feel the medicine. Your doctors will prob want to have you do the first dose at the doc office to make sure you do it right, I did mine by myself at home. Oh and also with that, you get to do them wherever you want, so I do mine on my couch while watching tv, its 1000times more comfortable then being in a docs chair.

For the side effects, im sure there are some but I have experienced nothing but positivity from it so far so im not that worried about it. And I do believe that you need to get a TB check every year but that's not bad at all. And I'd say no for the flu shot every year because I never had one and they never said anything about one to me.

I hope it goes well for you! If you have any other questions feel free to ask

Ethan, I really appreciate it. Even with a good, patient doctor, I always feel rushed like I am up against their clock and they are in a hurry. I can never remember anything, so I write it down like a huge loser, and even then I don't get to it all because as soon as we start talking needles and stuff, my mind is like, "Okay, you handle this and I'll be back later." Then all of a sudden the appointment is over and I feel as though I have missed half of it. Which is really spectacular.

Hah yeah I know what you mean. Also the starter kit for humira comes with a ton of information on how to do it and even a DVD so you wont have to remember, but it's really simple

My next 2 pens should be here Thursday, I'm going to do them as soon as they get here because Humira is working so well.
They even got it so I only have a $5 copay YEAH!!
The pens work great and are really easy. It did burn a bit going in but with how well it's working and how much better I feel it's well worth a little burn for 10 seconds.

I was on Humira for a few years as well, and out of all the biologics, I would say it probably worked the best. I managed to stay out of the hospital for over two years! Just to give you a heads up though... I did gain a good bit of weight on it. Even when it stopped working and I was really sick (not eating, diarrhea all the time) still not slim down at all, when normally I would've dropped 10-20 pounds while flaring. But as soon as I got off of it, the weight started coming off, mostly because I'm in a pretty serious flare. But anyway, best of luck to you all! Oh, I don't know if the nurse/doc told you this, but if you let the shots sit out at room temperature for around 30 minutes it won't burn nearly as much! Ciao!

Thanks emily!

I just had to call and get my maintenence doses shipped here. And man the people doing it sound like robots even though I know they're not. He didn't miss a beat when talking. But I was very surprised, I take my doses on mondays and I figured that it might not be here by then with the shipping but they said it would be here tomorrow! Wow!
