Uk waiting times

Hi I am currently waiting for ileostomy surgery on the nhs. Just wonderd how long people have had to wait in the past I've been waiting since February and am fed up. My symptoms are getting worse because I am off my humira in preparation for it.

I'm sorry that you are left waiting, it's horrid isn't it!

I was waiting around 3 months for my surgery, even though I was originally told it would just be a month.

Many things can affect the waiting lists, and it's common for surgeons treating crohns to also be dealing with cancer, which is obviously time critical. This can mean that surgery that isn't urgent ends up with long waiting lists.

I would try contacting your hospitals admissions department, they should be able to give you a better idea of how long you might be waiting. I'd also call your GI and see if they can suggest a short term way of helping you manage symptoms.

I guess your right cancer patients would take priority it's just frustrating because I'm the worse I have ever been and am off work and struggle to get out of my house. I have contacted the hospital I think I might have to keep pestering them . Thanks for the reply.
