Hi all please help I'm desperate, I am as yet undiagnosed and this forum is a god send. I would really like to know if anyone has or is experiencing the same problems as me. I was diagnosed with IBS when I was 16 (now 32) after sever stomach pains which seemed to only be made worse by fatty (tasty ) foods. I also have Graves' disease ( hyperthyroidism ) which I have had since I was young. I've taking carbimazole since graves was diagnosed but consultant recommend other treatments due to long term affects on my body, I agreed and July 2013 had radio active iodine treatment, after treatment I had extreme D but had a lot of water I needed to drink so put it down to that, ever since then my symptoms have become progressively worse, around oct 13 dr said ibs flare up after having D accident started cutting out/eliminating foods to no avail. Skip to May 14 D was ever day lived on Imodium but I was due to fly abroad on the 12 June so put it down to nerves it's now July 20th and I've had D everyday at least 10 times a day since may and I'm loosing weight rapidly, dr always saying it's IBS but I know it's not. New dr has run new bloods no results yet GI appointment not until 26th sep, SYMPTOMS, constant D even if I skip meals, at least 10 times a day, extreme tiredness (lucky I've not lost my job yet) and extreme excessive night sweats.

Hi Jmmel, I just found your post in one of the sticky threads, so I have made it into a new thread to improve the visibility.

Hopefully some members will be along soon to offer help :)

And feel free to PM me or one of the other Moderators if you are unhappy with the title or anything else.

Hi and welcome.

Sorry you've been going through this for so long with no answers. IBS is really a diagnosis at all. It's just a "we don't know what it is" so they say IBS. And I agree, I don't think it's IBS.

In preparation for your upcoming GI appointment I'd suggest keeping a food and symptom journal. Write down all the questions you have. I would push for a colonoscopy, upper GI series (X-ray, Ct Scan or MRI).

I'm afraid I don't have much else to add. Sending you my support. Hope you get some proper answers.

Thank you so much for your replies, I really feel like I'm lost at sea at the minute, my new GP is really good and has ran so many test but my ultra sound plus GI appointment seem like a life time away :( I have for the first time since this Friday started passing blood, very bright red though so I'm not sure if it's just because of my constant D or whether it's something else.

If its bright red it's close to the exit. If it's black tar or coffee grounds it higher up in the tract.

Keep asking questions. Knowledge is power.

Well fingers crossed things are moving forward. I've got a breath test to check I don't have an ulcer on the 1st sept then an ultrasound on the 2nd to check it's not gallbladder disease. I'm not a dr but I'm sure it's neither but at least I am being taken seriously now, GI appointment still not till sept 24th but things seem to be moving in the right direction. Any foods/drinks to have or steer clear of would be much appreciated (not lactose intolerant) :)

Hi. As far as diet goes I'd start with a food and symptom journal if you're not already doing it.
You can try cutting out dairy, grain/gluten to see if you get any symptom relief.
