Well this is my first post so here goes. I am 48 no insurance, no job, wife makes too much for Obama care and wife just thinks I have a stomach ache. So after dealing with what I thought was ibs this year I am wondering if it isn't crohns I have had 21 days of rectal bleeding this year. Arthritis that can lock up my joints. Major pain and cramping sides and stomach. I cry almost everyday. I feel so week. Recently lost 13 pounds in a month. Anyway there are my symptoms. 9 days ago I got my med marijuana card. After taking my first thc capsule I could feel the pain being eaten up almost like OxyContin. I was skeptical because I haved smoked of for 30 years. Now I wish everyone had this option vs opium based drugs. I still feel week, depressed but taking some of the pain away takes away some of the suicidal thoughts.... I will have insurance in November so just hope I can last until then. Hard when your spouse thinks you aren't sick. Anyway, everyone keep your heads up and thx for reading. Shane.

Hi Shane,

I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through. Do I understand correctly that you won't have insurance for almost a year from here?

You need to be seen by a doctor immediately. Rectal bleeding, 13lbs of weight loss, weakness, and suicidal thoughts are nothing to be trifled with. Your wife doesn't know what she's talking about.

Hi Shane007 and welcome to the forum! :D

Are you currently disabled? Have you applied for disability (SSI and/or SSDI through Social Security)? If you do have some form of IBD and cannot work due to your illness then you may qualify for disability which will automatically make you qualify for Medicaid. You don't have to wait for a diagnosis to start applying. Apply right away as the process can take some time.

As mentioned above. You need to be seen right away. I'd start with the ER. Even without health insurance you cannot be refused and it is possible to reduce such medical bills later on. Your life and well being are more important than money. A barium swallow and barium enema with x-ray will be cheaper than a CT scan and they can do these tests at the hospital. I'm glad that MM is helping with the pain but your bleeding needs to be addressed. People with IBS do not have blood loss.

Have you spoken to your wife about being suicidal? Is she aware that you're losing blood? Whether she is or not, please go to the hospital and keep us posted.
