Im currently in my last week of a prednisolone treatment and down to 5mg, but now not taking any other meds as i am waiting to start infliximab although im yet to hear back from the hospital about when!..

Ive noticed other the last week that the day has returned and getting worse day by day, Today has beena pretty bad day although i had a few drinks last night so i guess that hasnt helped. Anyway im starting to notice that when im going to the toilet, especially today theres been a lot of food that has seemingly just passed straight through. And this has got me worried as this can't be a good sign? however i've had no pain and no blood or anything.
Is this normal?

I have stuff come out the way it went in all the time. But I have no colon, I have a jpouch, so I am not the norm. I need to chew better!

Ive had this happen over the past several years, certain foods like carrots, corn , lettuce, a few others...no blood no mucus just undigested or partly undigested food.

That happens to me too. Usually nuts and vegetables, like krbsmom said. Most notably, carrots, lettuce, corn, spinach, bell peppers and strawberries.

I have this happen a lot too. Like others have said it's mostly with lettuce, peppers, other veggies, some fruits, and basically anything with skin or seeds. I've also never had blood with mine, so it never worried me a lot. It mostly made me angry, like what's the point in eating if 10 minutes later I can see it in the toilet. Might as well be dumping it straight in there haha.

Food The Moves Too Fast

My GI told me that without a large bowel, food takes aprox 5 hours to complete the journey, for me he was not far off. Veggies, any type of nuts, popcorn and corn, ugg. I learned not to eat popcorn, the little tough husks cause a lot of pain or they did with an inflamed colon, I just avoid it and I loved fresh popcorn. My most frightening bathroom moment; my wife makes this great tasting desert with a pint of cottage cheese, two boxes of sugar free Cherry Jell-O, one drained 20 once can of crushed pineapple all mixed together with one Large container of Cool Whipp. It’s the real deal; try it if you like sweets (most do if on pred). Very few calories, kind of guilt free. The point, I ate a big bowl of the stuff and went about my business. Five hours later when I had to use the bathroom, the blood red liquid that came out scared me to death. I thought I was hemorrhaging. It seems funny now but the huge amount of red food dye that didn't get absorbed came out looking just like Blood.

PS: If you have never tried it and like sweets, this might just become your favorite desert, just remember what you ate. :)

Like everyone else, mostly fruits and vegetable like lettuce, carrots, corn and peanuts. If it doesn't come out the butt, it ends up being vomited out same way it went down. That for me can even happen with ice cream coming out thick and cold the way it went down, I know sounds gross, but what I have had to deal with now for a very long time.

I hear you Margie, I guess I have been blessed on one account, I never had stuff come back up and I can imagine vomiting can also be very stressful and uncomfortable and unpredictable as well. The old saying that you can always find someone that is sicker and hurting more than you are is so true. I am new to this forum but I find it is very rewarding to to find others that are leading a productive life and raising families inspite of the CD they have been stuck with. On one thread, I commented that when my CD was raging, there was not enough mental or physical energy left to feel embarrased. I guess it was there, just very low on my list of things to be concerned with. I wish you well on your journey with Crohns. Take care ok. Bob E from Maine

Bob E,
I believe that we all share our own pain and we all deal with our own enemy inside with our Crohn's the best way that we can. I refuse to give in and let the Crohn's Rule my life.

I hope that you start to feel better soon Bob.

Don't forget peas too. The aforementioned veggies go through me along with green peas...and DANGIT if I don't love me some peas.

Thank you Margie, I confess I have been in remission for awhile and I am feeling blessed, I pray it continues. I am under no illusions but I also enjoy seeing the sun rise in the morning. You have the right attitude. My wife has had 10 heart attacks and she has an attitude very much like yours. Life is too short and precious to waste it away, thats what she says. Take care ok Bob E from Maine

I have the undigested food when I'm flaring. I think it's because everything goes through so fast, it doesn't get a chance to be broken down and digested properly. When I am not flaring, I don't ever have undigested food.
