Recap DS started iron supplements in jan due to low ferritin.
Levels in ferritin are now at the lower end of normal .
Serum iron was low.
Cliff notes version per Gi - ferritin is moving in the right direction recheck in three months. Serum iron is useless -disregard.
Vitamin d levels are mildly increasing recheck three months .
Otherwise DS is considered stable not under full control but more of a revolving system sorta thing .
I like stable .
A definitive no more raw veggies since they have been irritating his Gi tract and coming out the way they went in.

Fecal cal ordered to as a check .

Would an iron transfusion be up for consideration? Or are they not quite that low? I deal with ferritin problems and constantly take iron supplements (proferrin), as well. I hope your son improves soon!

All his other iron numbers etc are good hgb is really good so we have time to let the ferritin increase . It was 9.8 and now is 29 . 10 is the bottom of the normal range .
No need for iron infusions .

Thanks for the update mlp. :)

So good to hear that most things are heading in the right direction and I hope iron soon does an about face and catches up with his mates! Good luck!

Mmmmm…stable…one of my three favourite words, along with normal and boring!

Onwards and Upwards young penguin!
