Roo went back to the Neurologist today about her *twitches* -

Well the results are in and everything is normal! YAY!!!

:emot-dance::emot-dance::emot-dance::emot-dance::emot-dance:

The Neurologist said they are tics and will change in severity over time. There is medication she can take but she feels there is no need for that anytime soon.

He does not know if it is related to the Crohns but personally I think it is either that or the whole autoimmune disease process.

Happy, happy, happy, :):):)

Hey, good news! Many, many people have tics and they absolutely can wax and wane (ex: being sleepy can make them worse). She might be able to gain control over them, too, depending on the tic.

Great news Dusty and Roo. I am so glad you got good news from the docs.

happy happy happy for the two of you!!!!!! :

Hip hip hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So pleased for Roo:ybiggrin:

Love ya Dusty

Well, that would make sense wouldn't it. She is an 18 yr old college kid after all!!!

Hey good stuff!!! I love good news! It will be a never ending thought of worrying of our children.

Good for Roo! I feel bad I haven't been following along with her story very well. If her ticks are anything like what my mom dealt with for a good portion of her like they are definitely exacerbated by lack of sleep and most importantly stress! My mom was in a high stress state and job for a good portion of her life. Her eye was constantly twitching. It actually got so bad she sometimes couldn't open her eye! She ended up having to get Botox injections for a while. Now she is in a different job that isn't stressful at all, thank goodness.

Anyway...hopefully Roo keeps it in check with lots of sleep and stays stress free. Well, as much as she can as a college student ;)

Hi Dusty,

I'm glad this is working out. Funny how "synchronicity" works, huh? I read that "life" teaches us what we need to learn at exactly the time we need to learn it.

Guess we all learned another thing or two about our unwelcome "sidekick" (Crohn's).

Here's a link that I found very informative. When you look at some of the "symptoms" and therapies, you might be surprised at finding things remarkably similar to Crohn's. Maybe helpful for your daughter, too.

Hi guys, :bigwave:

Thank you so much for all the well wishes, it is very much appreciated!:rosette2:

Roo has said she doesn't feel the need to take medication for tics at this point and would probably only take them if they are bad and she is working. She feels that shakin' in the workplace wouldn't be a good look! :ylol2:

On a bad day she has about 50 episodes and a good day results in about 10. Since she has found out that it is nothing serious she doesn't notice them as much, so that's good. @ Marissa, maybe a little less stressed? Either way it's all good.

Another piece of good news today was regarding her migraines. I was prompted to think about these after seeing that Silvermoon was suffering with one today. Roo suffered with these frequently in the lead up to her diagnosis and afterwards. Since she started experiencing these at about 12 I hoping she would outgrow them but wasn't overly confident as I suffer with them and I also thought they might be related to the Crohns. I can't rule out that she is free of them but after checking in with her today she hasn't had one since April 2008! YAY!!!

Once again thanks everyone. I couldn't do it without you. :rosette1:
Dusty :)

I get the impression that she can take the meds if she wants, it's her choice. I don't know what medication he would have prescribed if she had wanted it but most likely it would be an anti anxiety or anti psychotic I guess.

Dusty. :)
