Hello all,

Sorry I can't find the old thread so I started a new one. My health is still going downhill. I went to a new GI (finally) He prescribed Remicade, he wanted to put me on Pred with it to speed up the process but I refused since side effects from pred are not worth it for me. He left me to contemplate if I want Imuran with Remicade or not which I'm not sure about, means is it possible that my body can handle both? I'm currently losing weight though I hardly move, I'm really tired all the time and alternating between explosive diarrhea and very crampy constipation and my skin has million of sores including my eyelids.

He prescribed me Pentasa again but in sachets form 3 times a day plus anti-spasms pills till I make up my mind next appointment. He also said with Remicade alone I shouldn't expect any relief for the first 3 months

I should be starting Remicade around next week, I found a rep in my city who gives me each 3 vials I purchase (my dosage 5ml/kg) one for free. I frankly don't know if this is common or not.

So, my question basically, is Imuran with Remicade a good idea? as in, will a weak body tolerate both? And also do you have any tips regarding those skin sores that appear on my skin?

Thank you all for your support.

I am on imuran and humira. Being on imuran is supposed to reduce the likelihood of developing antibodies against the biologic (humira, remicade etc).
The only issue I have had with being on both is a low white count which means weekly blood tests.

Hi Nancy,

Do the sores look like this? If not, can you describe them in detail?

Thank you, you actually answered something else I'm worried about is developing antibodies as its hard enough to access Remicade here and impossible for other things so yeah I will discuss this with my doctor :ysmile:

Yes very similar to those just the red patches surrounding the center of the sore is bigger, and I have some crusty like patches in between. When this sore opens up and dries it turns into a crusty red patch which are still painful and itchy. it starts like a bump underneath the skin which itch so bad and I scratch them when I'm sleeping (my hubby discovered this) I restrain myself from scratching them when I'm awake. They are mostly on my arms, tummy and legs.
I got an eye infection as well which made my eyelids swollen partially shut and red, I don't know if its related or not. Thank you so much David.

Hmm, doesn't sound like what I was thinking then :( I'm not sure, sorry. Maybe someone else will know.

I hope you feel better soon! Oh, and Remicade can act MUCH faster than 3 months.

Thank you for trying David :) Well I certainly hope so, I hope I can start as soon as possible, I have terrible fever and flu like symptoms since last night hopefully I recover before my first infusion! Fingers crossed :)
