it's been two months sinse my surgery and i am still having flare symptoms. i was hospitalized overnight and they gave me humira and steroids. they think i have recurrent crohns where they went in and removed the intestine. when is this nightmare going to be over. i just got finished puking in the bathtub while having explosive/painful diarrhea. sorry if that is tmi. i just want a break from pain and discomfort. on top of it i haven't been able to get my humira approved outside of being admitted to the hospital. i am taking a heavy dose of tramadol and dilaudid. i pretty much spend all my time in bed.:frown:

In reality, it may never be over. Something you have to prepare for. I have been diagnosed for almost 6 years. In that time I have been on several different treatments without much success. I am working on getting my first surgery under my belt here in the next few weeks, due to the ineffective medications. I, like you, have a difficult case on my hands. In fact, I have been turned away by doctors, due to my "difficult" Crohn's. Either they don't want to take the risk, or they are too lazy to handle someone as tough to treat as me.

I hope the best for you. I also hope that you have some family, and friends to support you (someone like my wife, or Dustykat!) through this tough time. You are going to need a good support base for the time ahead.

I too worry that surgery won't do much for me. That my story will be akin to what you are sharing.

I'm sorry you're having such a rough time, tishbite. I hope that you and your doctors find the right treatment for you soon and you get some relief!

When it comes to healthcare - the squeeky wheel gets the grease!! In other words, don't give up tell every doctor and nurse you came in contact with how bad off you are.

If you are trying to get medication approved - talk to the disability advisor/ human resources at work for suggestions.

Look for a new GI if you can.

Hugs

Why won't they approve the Humira?? I had trouble getting one of my medications approved a while ago and the doctor had to write a letter to the insurance company so they would let me have it. I would try that route. If you are that bad off and you need it, they will usually give it to you.

As for the flare symptoms. I'm still having issues as well. It's been 12 years since diagnosis and I thought that the surgery was finally going to be the thing to put me in remission. Sadly, its wasn't. I'm doing better, but still not doing good. It totally sucks.

thanks you guys. i finally got the humira approved and take my second dose tomorrow. i have put on a couple pounds but nothing much and i am still having major problems with nausea. however, the pain had died down a little bit. i'm hoping the humira will kick my body back into shape :/ i get a colonoscopy/endoscopy in two days.
