use of cannabis effect dx?

I've been having symptoms, in and out of flares since June 2011. I use cannabis now to help with my symptoms, mainly pain and appetite. I've had a colonoscopy and pill cam with inconclusive results. I've been on Entocort since October with little effect. I've been on xifaxin and align as well, which did nothing for me. Basically my GI found inflammation in my terminal ileum, but all my blood tests have come back negative.
Could my use of cannabis hiding my CD from my doctors? I'm absolutely miserable without smoking and I do not have any appetite without it.
I just wish my dr would give me pred or something. I'm tired of having to feeling like this all the time. I wish I had a dx so I could then try to get a MM card.

Not sure what blood tests he's running, except maybe white blood cell count for inflammation. There is no blood test for crohn's.

Sounds a lot like me 20 years ago. Do you have pain on the right side of your belly just below your ribs? I'm guessing your appendix and terminal ileum are inflamed and ready to blow.

Do you sometimes puke after eating? Maybe the symptoms would be different for you.

The weed would not 'hide' the disease. If you want to avoid surgery try a macrobiotic diet and avoid high fibre foods. It might be too late though if your appendix is affected. Am surprised he hasn't tried prednisone yet. Though if there is a problem it will only mask the symptoms for a while before they get worse and the pain gets worse.

Weed is not a cure. It will help symptoms and reduce stress - but it will not stop active disease - I'm pretty sure about that anyway.

Good luck dude!

I was told that the THC would throw off the lab tests so I am waiting untill after I get through the post op care and have the colostomy in aug.

My Dr is also saying that because my inflammatory markers are low I must not have ibd even though I have mild chronic inflammation of most my digestive system. I am new here and no expert but there is research out there that show that certain cannabanoids can lower inflammation in the digestive system. I'm at work now, in the bathroom so no time to Google.

You might want to find a new Dr, i want to. He said those inflammatory tests are foulproof with the chance of a false negative being almost impossible. I have heard many people on these forums say the same about their dr until they get cut open. Hang in there.

I believe that marijuana is our gift from God. We have tons of built in cannabanoid receptors, and its an all natural herb that has allowed me to stay out of the hospital throught most of my flare.

Good luck hang in there.
