I am 64 years old with Crohn's that was diagnosed 4 years ago but was with symptomatic in my twenties. My son has been diagnosed for 20 years with
Crohn's and my father was diagnosed in his late seventies. two years ago
I had a terminal ileum and caecum resection and in dec 2012 had full blown
obstruction at anastamosis, but fortunately e stenosiswith high dose steroids , ng tube and antibiotics the obstruction opened up. have been on Entocort and
flagyl for 6 weeks and feel pretty good. was scoped yesterday colon looks good
but anastamosis is still inflamed. Dr wants me to try cimzia. I feel so much
better now don't know if i should wait and see if my bad symptom's come back.
also has anyone tried protandim. one of my gi drs, suggested it. appreciate any
feedback. Bob

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

I have not been on the Cimzia or heard of Protandim so could not advise on these but would say not to wait for symptoms to get worse before getting treatment, this will then usually mean that damage is getting done whilst this happens and you wait for things to calm down again. With regards to the Cimzia we do have a sub forum for this that it worth checking out to get some more info on this: http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=87. I am glad to hear you are feeling better and the scope gave some good results.

Hey bkm. I don't have any good advice as I don't know anything about Cimzia but wanted to welcome you to the forum. The people here are wonderful, really well educated on this stuff, and very supportive. You're in a good place.

Welcome to the forum, Bob!

I'm afraid I don't have answers to your questions, but I do want to agree with Angrybird - it's best to prevent another flare up (and therefore damage to your body) before it happens. If you wait for it to come back, it's much more difficult to control.

I'm glad you're feeling better and I hope it continues!
