Okay so I'm new to this whole crohns experience but long story short...

I'm in middle of being diagnosed, hopefully I'm not (fingers crossed) I've done aloot of research on ibd and ibs and everything related but I can seem to get my question answered:)

I recently had a colonoscopy and Doctor told me I have very minor ulcers located small intestine and have prescribed me budesone(steroid) for 3 months and still hasn't told me if its crohns or not. Anyways...

Can these minor small ulcers mean I do have crohns or can it be mistaken with something else? What creates theses ulcers? I have little to no symptoms because of my medication which is great! Other then the anxiety ! Can anyone help me out please

I am not a Dr but, I will say I was found to have apthus ulcers in my small bowel and my
Dx is Crohns Disease.

I ma not sure what other conditions would cause this. If you had symptoms before hand and
you are feeling better on the steroid I would also say thats a signs of IBD. Otherwise it wouldn't change how you feel.

Good luck, I hope you get answers soon!

You have landed in a good forum and will learn a lot here.

I also have small ulcers around my Terminal Ileum (last part of small bowel); that was a year after surgery that followed 20 years of inflammation making things much worse. So it definitely is caused by Crohns in my case.

What symptoms did you have before treatment? It's good that it's working, but the question is what happens after 3 months. I'm near the end of my Budesonide course and we're pretty much in a "wait and see" mode as to whether I need something else long term.

There are other potential causes for such ulcers. Heck, even taking too much ibuprofen can cause it. In the end, it's what the pathology report comes back with. I assume they took biopsies during the colonoscopy?

I had some bad symptoms before my treatment like constant gas so burp and farting. Always having the urge to puke every morning, chest pain heart burn, no appetite, weight loss, tired and stomach pain but mostly manageable.

They did not take biopsies during my colonoscopy which is weird idk why

I had all the same symptoms, except the chest pain/heartburn part. Though I did have them when my gallbladder went (wasn't stones, very inflamed and swollen though). Hope you feel better soon. The steroids made a world of difference for me :)
