It's been since 1983 when I became sick. I couldn't even stand up at first, stomach area stayed sore and with a hard lump. Was hospitalized for months, and when I was discharged, I couldn't eat, (iv fed only). Had my first surgery in 1985 or 86, they removed 6 inches of the small int., and a emergency surgery in 1995, and they removed a segment is all they would tell me. But, they also removed my gallbladder, and that's when more trouble started. Overall, currently today I am on asacol and questran for the crohns. I've taken prednisone and others. I've never seen a forum like this, and shock to see so many people that suffer with this disease. Seems, as if I was the only one who had it, let alone no one ever heard of it. I have good days, but I have not so good days. All food seems to attack it, and other foods that you think is safe can trigger it. But God is good through it all, the doctor just told me on last week, that I was doing pretty good, I guess since I only had two surgeries?? :confused2: THis disease have cause me to have sjodren syndromes(according to doctors), and degenerative arthuritis in my lower back. This forum is a good thing, I hope the ones that are new to having crohns, will have better luck with the doctors treating this disease sufficiently and quicker.

Wow Nene! You were diagnosed the same year I was born!

This disease can be a real kick in the pants, but I am so glad you found us because now you don’t have to suffer alone!

We all have varying degrees of illness here, but we have so much in common and really known how to help and support each other. I’m looking forward to learning from your years of experience as well as hopefully giving you some support and advice back.
Welcome to the forum!

Hi and welcome! I am sorry you have been through so much with your Crohn's, but I am pleased to hear you are doing well today! That is great news from being diagnosed 27 years ago, even though you have had 2 surgeries. I hope you continue to do well!

Hi Nene. I'm glad you found us. I, too, now have arthritis in my back, which I've been told is likely from my Crohn's. I've had it for 24 years now, and I've had 2 surgeries, too. I hope you can find the food that works best for you.

Hi Nene, 1983 for me as well. Long time isn't it. I think things generally have moved on since those days. Certainly treatment wise. Lets hope that they can keeping making forward strides.
Hope you feel better soon.

I hope this diet will continue to be successful for you. However, from the time I have joined this forum, I found a list of food not to eat, which include fresh fruit, but, it's different for everyone. Sometimes, I'm really shock what makes my stomach upset... Strange disease...
