:):)I was TOLD by both gastro, docs, to go to this place in UPMC(Pittsburgh) for stress/behavior management for gi patients. First my insurance is not one that the top doc. takes.the one My docs want me to see. Second, my doc do not say WHY I need to go their. Its very far away, I go to upmc to see my docs. an for that it takes me 3/4 hrs to get ready. I have my own stress person I see for 9 years. anybody out their know who these people are.

I haven't heard of it before but seems to be a place that teaches coping skills for stress and pain management and to help with depression and anxiety. They can also prescribe medications for anxiety and depression and likely for pain management as well. Here's their website: http://www.upmc.com/services/gastroenterology/services/pages/visceral-pain.aspx There's a short video that explains what they're all about. I don't think you have to go if you don't want to or if you're already seeing someone and their treatment is working for you.

I go to that VIP center!! I went for about a year in 2011 and recently started going again. Did they specifically recommend Dr. Szigethy? For me, they prescribed lyrica and then Effexor to help with my pain in conjunction with therapy. Who is your GI? I too see GI at UPMC Presby (Dr Reguerio). He is a big proponent of the VIP! He recently completed some new research and the VIP center is using that new research for new treatment approaches, hence why he just recommended I return! If you want to talk privately feel free to email me at [email protected].
