I'm thinking of starting to take vitamines E & C, especially after I read a new study that shows that people with Crohn's have lots of oxiditative stress, even when in remission. Also I don't eat enough vegetables and fruits as I don't tolerate them well most of the time, or I have to cook them till death, so I'm not getting the daily antioxidants I need.

Does anyone of you take vitamines E & C? what dose? what form? any side effects? Do you take them as part of a multi or seperately?

Here is the link for the study

I take both vitamins, but only 200 IU of vitamin E. I take them in a multi-vitamin. Never had any issues with any vitamins.

While I think they are important for the reasons given and general good health I feel that Turmeric and Ginger are far better suited for the job especially for Crohns.

They both are antioxidants plus are effective for inflammation due to arthritis, antibacterial, anticancer, I could go on and on. Read the following links and you will see why I am such an advocate of these nontoxic remedies.

I take them as suppliments now since I do not like the taste. I take two capsules of each twice a day with meals. Once a day I take two multivitamins.

There is also the form of Turmeric called Curcumin. This form extracts the active ingredient from Turmeric and is a better antioxident but not as good against bacteria. Since Crohn's likely has a bacterial component I use the Tumeric now. I have some indications that this works better than Curcumin .

Both help with inflammation, arthritis pain, any kind pain that involves inflammation. Also anti cancer, prevents heart disease, alzheimers and prevents DNA damage from radiation, the list goes on.

They both would seem to be a perfect fit for Crohn's. If you have active inflammation in the stomach or guts you may want to just use the Ginger until the inflammation is subdued. While the Turmeric is anti ulcer it can aggrevate an existing lesion.

These are not drugs and do not act as fast, but used long term they have improved my stool, which is one of the only indicators I have that it is working. I do not have pain with my Crohn's.

If you try it out please let all of us know if it helps. There is not very many treatments without bad side effects and it is important for all of us to try to find non toxic treatments.

Thank you
