2 questions about 6-mp…

I volunteer in my sons first grade classroom once a week. Should I stop or just be extra careful and hand sanitize???

I think I read on my 6-mp print out from pharmacy not to take acetaminophen with this medication… I have been told in the past not to take Ibuprofen because it could make my symptoms worse and I am also on pentasa. What can I take from my massive headache??? (I also think I have a slight fever due to a cold I picked up from my son)

Thanks for any help!!!

I've discussed the problem of taking something when I have a bad headache. My doctor's P.A. said it's ok to take something occasionally, just not on a regular basis. I also have degenerative disc disease which is pretty painful. And it's all a PITA.

You should probably talk to your doctor's office and get their advice - we're all so different. Maybe they will give you something for your headaches.

My son takes 2 extra strength tylenol for a headache, and then lays down in a quiet room and drinks lots of water. 6mp can be dehydrating which can cause the headaches. I don't know what else you could take. He really tries not to take anything unless his headache is pretty bad.

As long as you are careful, you should be able to volunteer. You aren't more susceptible to catching anything, viruses will just hit you harder if you get them. Also, hand sanitizer only kills bacteria not viruses. Wash your hands or use hand wipes when you can't. The physical rubbing action of the hand wipe will help remove the virus from your hands.

Tylenol has been my go to for pain over Ibuprofen. I have used the "headache Tylenol" in the past that has caffeine with the acetaminophen - it was recommended to me by an ER doctor (apparently drinking a coffee with the Tylenol also has the same effect of opening up the blood vessels to get the medication flowing faster).

In terms of colds I found that I did not have more frequent colds when I was on Imuran (was on it for 23 years up until my recent surgery) - more frequent hand washing is definitely a great idea .

Thank you so much for all the suggestions. I am feeling better today and headache is gone. I have noticed that I get a mild headache (not requiring meds) in the afternoons, going to try and drink extra water maybe it is dehydration related.

I will wash and wash and wash my hands! With 2 small kids it will be a must (generally they are pretty healthy and do not get sick often… knock on wood!)

Yayyy for caffeine! I asked about Tylenol since I'm on 6MP too, Doc said yes, I can take it. Maybe it's one of those individual things. I think all these drugs are metabolized by the liver - can't overload it I guess.
