Vsl#3 good bad or ugly?

Gi prescribed DS vsl#3
Has anyone seen any improvement while on it?
If so how long before you notice a difference?
DS has a lot of rectal and sigmoid involvement right now
So similar to uc in a small way .

My son has been on it for two years or so. I don't really know if it makes a difference or not, but he is doing so good right now that I'm not changing anything! He has/had terminal ileum involvement--resected almost a year ago.

Is your son on regular , jr or prescription strength ?

He's on regular--1 capsule a day.

Thought I'd add in his weight--he was about 65 pounds when he started it and is 109 now. We haven't changed his dose.

(Weight gain is due to growth/weight gain after surgery last year, not due to VSL!)

The Gi put DS on the prescription version
At two packets a day for a while then he has us switching him to one a day.
He is only 74 lbs but he is also 9 so a good weight for him.

Are the packets the double strength? Hope he sees improvement with them.

The prescription ones are - double strength . So 900 billion
Bacteria per packet .
Regular packets are 450
Pill is 112
Jr is 225

Comparing the bacteria in Jr to capsule, makes me wonder if we should up the dose to 2 capsules. Definitely will have to ask the GI at our appointment in a couple weeks.
