waking up swollen colon

I don'tknow what I did. It all started about 2 weeks ago. One day it was just diarreah. The next came the blood and diarreah and it was like that for about a week and then the last 2-3 days I've been waking up with what feels like a swollen colon. I'm in pain for a couple of hours then pass the stool and I feel a little better although there are random sharp stabbing pains until they stop around 2or 3 pm. *sigh* IDK maybe you all could help determine what is going on. My pain scale is about a 5 so it's manageable more obnoxous and annoying than anything...and I've been worse but still...what do you guys think?

Sorry your having all that pain. I had stabbing pain before like that and it turned out to be a nasty fissure I had a lot of inflammation around that area and it caused a lot of pain it got so bad that I couldn't sit down. The GI doctor gave me some prednisone suppositories and it helped clear it up a bit and relieve the stabbing pain. Have you spoken to your doctor?

I am not too sure what exactly could be going on, but it sounds like something is brewing. I would phone your GI before it gets worse. Also, I agree with Kayleigh, maybe some pred enemas would be enough to nip this in the bud. When I start seeing blood (red blood usually means it is further along in your colon), my GI gives me a few weeks worth, and it does help.

*sigh* I figured something was going on. I still get red-deep red blood in my stool though it's more formed now than last week. It's intermittened between being scattered throughout the entire stool and being at just the very end...it's annoying. I'll have to give them a call on Tues as my GI isn't in till then.
