The flare is a bit better, but am still on Pred, Pentasa, Aza. Yesterday, I had a UTI diagnosed, so now I'm on antibiotics too. Today, somehow, I scratched my eyeball, it hurts but it's ok. Tonight my jaw went out of whack (it does that). It's only hubby and I at home and I don't like to complain too much. However, he came home to advise me that he had decided we should redo the floors in dining and living room of our 100+ year old house. I was happy that they would be refinished finally. Noooo, he wants to put fake wood floor on top of the real beauties. So, when do I break? Now, he's pouting cause I said "No way" and walked out of the room. Grrrr.

Natural wood is better for aesthetics, and resale value.

Don't know about you, pred makes me SUPER irritable! Could this be happening to you?

original wooden floors are beautiful and defo looks soooo much better =) you stick to your guns. =)

As long as they are proper wooden floors. When I bought my house they had painted and varnished the floorboards, very cheap wood with large gaps between them. I had to get the slot in boards to make it look better. If they are proper ones I would defo hire a sander and restore them.

Oh Slim, I'm an old lady.....I'm too tired to be irritable, and I've learned to walk away.
You're right kyi, the original floors will stay. :)

:) I've had more years to learn tolerance and patience and lots of deep breathing.
The prednisone is not making me hyper this time around either..odd.

I will concede that deep breathing helps...

I started 40mg about 3 days ago, and yesterday, I took a 3# sledge hammer to a stubborn DVD player.

I needed a new one anyhow.....

lol Slim...that made me chuckle!.....now if it was a CD player, I'd send you ours that hasn't been used in forever!

Are you blaming the prednisone, Slim? :D

Partially, I had been fed up with the dvd player for months now... Last night, I was trying to watch a movie from Redbox (xmen 1st class), only to have it not play in the DVD, or the Xbox... Given the frustrations I have been having, I ripped the tray right out of the DVD player without thinking about it... The sledge was just the icing on the cake. Figured I would do it right!!

I have really bad mood swings on Prednisone. I have to take anxiety meds in conjunction with the steroids to mitigate the psychotic episodes. Luckily, I am not physically violent with people, unless they get stupid with me first.

With my family, and friends, I can walk away. With strangers.. it's another story.:yfrown:

Original flooring sounds a lot nicer and it's so appealing. Along with the fact that it holds true value to your home :) You have support on here to keep the wooden floors!

It sounds like a lot of fun... destroying that thing. I would've had a blast! But you're making me a little nervous. I really hope I don't do anything to offend you! ;) You could probably really trash me!

Judith ~ I am updating my house too, atm. On my own, I have teared up the carpet in the master bedroom and revealed the wood floor. Then I took some really ugly wood paneling off of the wall. It needs work, but should come along nicely. Honestly, I have it on hold, due to current lack of energy. But I agree with the real wood idea. It would be horrible to cover that up again.

If it were possible, I would rather use the energy helping JudithC resurface her floors. :thumright: If I have a means to work out some of the energy, I manage better. I would even work for free, so long as there is plenty of water, and a toilet.:poo:

I rarely go off on people. It tends to be more of an internal struggle. If I catch myself, I can walk it off. Or like in the case of the DVD player, take it into the garage for said smashing. It was overdue. Even Tina understood.:rosette2:

HI Jessi, I understand what you mean by lack of energy. I wasn't joking when I told Slim I'm just too tired to lose my temper....I suppose hubby is grateful for that...lol.
Even the Pred doesn't help. We do love working on this old house though.

Me too, Judith! I feel so good about myself when I see the improvements I've made so far! I have finished 3 out of the 5 bedrooms. The master bedroom is by far the hardest one. Maybe I'll employ Slim to do it for me for free. ;) It sure does keep this ol' lady busy!

I'm 37 next month, and for the first week, and then whenever I change my dose on Prednisone, I feel like an angry teenager. I only sleep a few hours a night... hot flashes.. 40mg as of 3 days ago...

What is the problem with keeping the original floor? Seems to be a greater expense to replace the whole floor..?

HI Slim....I'm on 30 mg, my second round on this. The first time I did get the energy and hot flashes...not this time and I'm worried about how tired I'm going to be without the Pred. Well, deal with that when the time comes.

I don't know why hubby thought of replacing floor. I didn't ask. The one in the dining room has been refinished once.....the living room is carpeted, but has the same floor beneath. They are beautiful wide plank wood floors.

Oh I am so jealous of you, Judith! My wood floors are nowhere near as beautiful as yours sound. I sincerely hope your husband doesn't fight you on this one.
