SPRING AND FALL
Did you know or have you noticied that your worst time for a flare-up are at the begining of spring and the begining of fall.
This was told to me by 2 GI Dr's. 1 pain specialist and 1 Crohn's surgeon.
Seems odd or wierd aye.
But when I think about it ,my symptons start to flare up in March untill around June. Last June I was in the hospital due to a flare-up.
Always in the hospital at Hallowe'en time too,because I remember I could not take my daughter ou for treats. Which made me feel sad but,some how it didn't seem to effect her as long as she was going into the city with her friend for Hallowe'en.
Then I am always sick just before Christmas right through till the new year.
So now my Dr. makes sure that I get my Remicade infusion a week before the holidays.
Just something to think about.

Gosh Tammy now that you mention it...
I was in really bad shape the year I was diagnosed from October to January.
And I too have a bit of a rough time each Spring and Fall....
Wonder what the weather has to do with it?

Gee...thanks for the info! :)

Hugs~Nancy

I'm new to this disease, but both of flare-ups happened during these time frame.

My first attack was at the end of the summer, just before fall (around July-August), and I'm currently battling a flare-up (started in February, no end in sight as of yet).

mmm, my first flare lasted from March (when I was diagnosed - not counting symptoms before) till September then my next flare was Sept/Oct to December the following year. So I flare pretty much any time of the year, maybe I'm the odd one out here lol

Well I've only had one flare and it started Mayish... but didn't get really bad until October through January... now I'm tapering and my hemoglobin count is coming back up (10.1) although SLLOOWWLY :) but hey! It's progress... right? :)

I've noticed that too. The 5 times I was in hospital were during November or April. I also don't usually feel well in October and March.....

lol, yeah you're right, I'll blame it on lack of sleep from my little one waking me at 6am every morning. Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it lol

Hi everyone,I guess I'm an oddball, I think sometimes I'm in a constant flare up.The time of year really doesn't matter
~~~HUGS~~
:panda:
Now it's March and I'm flaring, go figure..... I'm trying to rest more and eat only bland things, but I'm not able to sleep because of abdominal pain at night... Hope it resolves soon :(
I have been hospitalized the past three years in the month of March ~~~ and here we are in March again and guess what I am in a huge flare up! I used to love Spring as my favorite season ~ Crohn's has changed that!!!
My flare-ups seem to start just before Christmas or in January and I usually end up in the hospital around Easter. I have been married 2 and 1/2 years now and I have known my husband for 4 years. I think this is the first time I have not been in the hospital on Easter. I know it is not Easter yet but since I just got out of the hospital this past Monday I am assuming that I will not be in the hospital this Easter.
Yep, I'm having some issues that started about a week ago. I've noticed the same thing about the change of seasons and timing of flares. I've always thought it was the pollen in the air making my immune system more active, but who knows what it really is with this disease.
yep last time i had problems was April and before that it was October. Both are high times for pollen. specifically in my area it is pine, pecan, you name it in the spring and ragweed/goldenrod in the fall months.
Both of my bad flare-ups have always been January-March, with Feb. being the peak. My dad always said February was a bad month. Very interesting how these patterns repeat themselves.
I would always get ill around November or December, and I always blamed it on eating foods bad for me around the holidays (esp nuts). I think back now and possibly it was flares and not obstructions as I thought then.
It's now the middle of April and I am
still in a flare-up
This sucks.
I need my Remicade infusion bad.
Right now Im a week behind schedule due to
lack of paperwork signing.
I am hoping for tomorrow to get my infusion.
I hate playing this waiting game,getting sicker day
by day untill they decide to get their paper work in order.
They have known for over 10 weeks now that I get my
infusions every 8 weeks.
I just don't understand their lodgick . I mean sign the papers
ahead of time,so when its time for my infusion everything will
be in order.
Dam government we have sucks.
Yea, now I have minor flareups almost monthly. But the bad ones have been usually in the spring or fall. At first I just whined that this was because they were my favorite times of the year and fate was just being cruel to me.
After thinking about it though these are the biggest stress times at work. September/October/November are the budget crunch/inspection prep times and most big project close times and February/March/April are also common large project close times or major new project fire up times.
I am about convinced that work related stress is the biggest single contributer to flareups of my illness. Though I am also pretty sure that part of what has hurt in the past was a combination of trying to follow the wrong dietary advice and improperly prepared, contaminated or poor quality foods. But I am beginning to get smarter about these issues.
If I could only find better solutions for work related stress, but I just don't see them at this time. At least here in the US everything is so fast paced and lean especially in health care, especially in my area, maintenance of life support equipment, control and alarm systems. Do more with less, again, again, again, & so on. So it goes ...
PS the "So it goes ... " is a quote from “Slaughterhouse-Five, or The Children’s Crusade” in tribute to it's author Kurt Vonnegut Jr. who died Thursday. One of the few people I would have ever considered giving up lifespan equal to double the time I could spend with them in conservation over a frosty bottle of Markers. Hope you have a good time in eternity ya lovable ole rascal. So it goes ... *
