Thanks for sharing the article. I can't imagine facing this beast without health insurance. Fortunately in Alaska there is a disability program for kids that helps as a secondary insurance. Jae's formulas alone cost around $2000/month!

My best wishes to you. I can't imagine the additional stress this financial burden and insurance difficulty is causing. Hang in there!

I'm glad the ACA has got the ball rolling, but it does seem the law encourages unemployment especially if the salary falls near the threshold. Still, something had to be done. I just hope they can fix it before it breaks us!!

Is your husband still looking for work??

Yea - he's still looking /sigh/.. it's ROUGH..

I believe/think the whole "system" encourages unemployment or under-employment. If we can get a decent policy under the ACA, then really, I think other families in our financial "bracket" would be MORE encouraged to seek employment that doesn't necessarily offer in-house coverage; they'd be more likely to take even a parttime job, rather than be underemployed, just to have the spending money, not just to afford the premiums..

I DO think this may be a good way to encourage people to get off the "rolls" so to speak == if they had insurance, even if they had to pay a couple hundred a month for it, at least they'd ALSO be working
