weight changes when flaring

i'm wondering how a flare affects everyone's weight? when all my problems started i dropped about 10lbs really quickly, but now my body seems to be holding onto it. I am overweight, so it's not that there's none there to lose. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same thing?

I'm not eatine much, although what i do eat is not nescessarly healthy, as i'm trying to stick with a low residue diet and am supplementing with ensure a couple times a day. Maybe i'm just somehow managing to get enough calories, and with my newfound sedentary lifestyle my weight is maintaining? also, i don't have constant D, it seems like i get a few days of it, then a few days of normal soft stool, then repeat

I've dropped about 25 lbs in the last 3-4 months. When I am flared up I usually lose some pounds depending on how bad and how long I'm in a flare-up.

Maybe just a few pounds, but nothing major. I think this may be due to me not eating until night, then stuffing my face and going to sleep to ease the pain.

My first major long flare before surgery I lost 40 lbs in 1.5 months, I was really sick. That was in 1993, I have learned to gain since then lol.

I can lose alot of weight during a big flare up. Mostly because I`ve had alot of problems with my rectum.(fissures&fistula). I was afraid to eat. Also the flagyl maked me feel horrible. Right now I am not too sore, so I am eating better, but I find I am not eating whole grain foods, fresh fruit or vegies. I have gained weight, also due to inactivity because of my joints hurting. I don`t mean to complain about gaining weight because I know some people can not gain. But I wish I could find something to eat besides white refined foods. If I eat something to fiberous it feels just like sandpaper!

I'm in the same boat. I've gained about 10 pounds in the past 6-8 months, and I'm in a flare up.

I've contributed it to pregnancy weight (my wife is due in Feb). Also, I'm been promoted to a new position that is less stressful.

It's funny tho, because when I used to maintain my weight, exercise, eat less (I was single back then with no children) I was always in remission. I don't feel myself stressed due to family life, maybe it is the lack of exercise. I don't know!

I always lose a lot of weight while flaring, because I have too much D and pain and get frightened of eating. Actually, the only moment I feel fine while on a flare up is when I´m VERY hungry. But as soon as I get better I regain my weight (and sometimes put on some more weight, too).

I´m a lot like can1991, just feed basically of refined foods. Can´t have whole grain (disaster), or freah fruit and veggies (well, my old frined banana is as exception - eat them everyday, no problem there).

I have lost 10 pounds over the last two months. I put on about 60 pounds after surgery (weighed 160 then) so, if I'm being vain, the weight loss is a plus! The pain, however, brings it all back to the negative.

I lost 20 pounds last year. I started Pred again two weeks ago, but I have only put on about two pounds.

I could probably stand to gain about 10 pounds, but I am also trying to watch the crap I put into my body.

I pretty much feel like you, when I am flaring I get afraid to eat too much.
I lost 20 lbs when I flared, but I gained it all back since May. Now, I am starting to lose again because I think I am flaring again.

I lose about five pounds a week when I flare. If I can eat without pain it comes out in less than five minutes. If it hurts to eat, there is no way I am going to eat anything. If I eat when flaring it feels like any liquid or solid gets stuck at one point in my GI tract and it's like an IV drip to get past that point and it is so painful.

I lose weight and gain weight pretty constantly. I only weigh about 150 pounds though and Ill lose about 5 pounds in a day or 2 when I'm really bad. I was constantly feeling like hell for a long time though up until about 6 weeks ago and now I'm pretty near recession so for the first time in 3 years I've actually gained some weight. I'm up to 153 pounds! haha. A new whole on my belt up! hahaha. Well anyways yes when I flare I lose about 5 pounds but I'm underweight and have been for years so its a lot for me. I also try to eat more when I'm flaring because I play sports and need to keep weight up.
