Weight gain on Pentasa

I have been prescribed 1g x 3 about two months ago. I normally only take two of the doses at most but I seem to have gained a few pounds and am quite bloated, especially around my middle, chest, neck area. Its especially bad as i have started walking for at least an hour a day and am eating very sensibly, normally I would be losing weight not gaining.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Ps. I am one of the abnormal crohns being overweight most of my life.

I haven't noticed any real weight gaining while on Pentasa. But, I've also been flaring most of the time while on it too. So, that could posssibly be part of it...

What does flaring mean?

Basically, when a person is flaring symptoms are present. I'm afraid that Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis & different types of the disease is a little different in symptoms. Here is something I found and I hope this helps some.

I never had any weight gain on Pentasa, either. Could it be that your Crohn's is getting better and maybe you are eating a little more? That could cause you to gain some weight.

I have found that I am extremely bloated while taking Pentasa...to the point my clothes make me uncomfortable. On my 3rd week of 4 caps twice a day and have gained about 5 pounds. I am somewhat overweight as it is ( even with Crohns ) and certainly do not need extra lbs. Oh, and add the acne into the mix and I'm not feeling too pretty these days.
