I have no experience with acne or pimples besides the two or three that pop up right before my period.

however, I've been getting weird breakouts on my skin for a little less than a month.

My left and right side of my forehead are covered in BIG red pimples (cysts? boils? whats the difference?) that are very painful to the touch. Some are filled with pus, some are not. I've been using face wash but I don't think it's helping.

my chest has broken out into smaller red pimples filled with pus.

My scalp has some pimples too, but I cannot see that quality because of my hair. They feel smaller but painful to the touch.

Now, I'm getting solo little pus filled pimples randomly. One on my thigh, that went away. A couple days later, one on my wrist that went away. Now there's one on my side.

Sooo I'm wondering if this is Crohns related? (I'm also on Remicade, and Lialda).

Also, which doctor do I call first: GI? My General Doctor? Call up a Dermatologist?

If I'm being honest, I'm worried that it's some sort of infection of the skin or something. Like Staph?

Thanks guys

Hi are you on prednisone? I would suggest that you see the dermatologist and if he thinks it's necessary he would send you to your GI or GP , it could possibly also be from meds your using

I was in prednisone from September 2014-end November 2014. I broke out BADLY while I was on it. If I'm honest, my skin hasn't been the same since that medication. But I'm not on it now, so I can't figure out what's triggering this :(

I think it could be triggered by medication. Also I have found dehydration, stress and hormonal issues to spark acne for me. I get pimples that don't really come to a head, but are painful and take FOREVER to go away.

When I initially went to the hospital a month ago I was severely dehydrated, had mouth sores, was anemic, and my liver enzymes were all elevated. While in the ER I started having the bumps appear on my palms, upper arm and flanks. During my stay they showed up randomly on my legs, groin, and butt. After being diagnosed with Crohns that week my GI told me that it's all part of classic Crohns presentation, just that they don't usually get to see it all at the same time.
The antibiotics and steroids cleared it up, but some of the marks are scarring. Thank goodness I'm married and 50, I don't impress anyone anymore.... :)

Have a dermatologist look at it ...
Could be med related from pred
Could be hormone related
Or crohns related ...
Good luck

Oops/ I edited my last post. I was on the steroids last fall in 2014. Not 2015 like I previously wrote. I don't think that would still be affecting my skin

When did you start taking the Lialda and Remicade? Both could cause acne. I'd contact your GI first in case it's related to your medication.

I started lialda in the summer this year. I changed from asacol to lialda. I started Remicade last December in 2014

Yes! Exactly. What hormonal issues are there for women besides mentruation? That I can't control lol is there anything I can do to help these break outs?

There are many functions in the body that are controlled or influenced by hormones in men and women. Stress, fatigue, poor diet and lack of exercise could all affect hormone balance. If you don't already, I would try to make sure you drink enough water, get enough sleep and watch stress levels to see if it helps. Beyond that you might need to see a dermatologist. There are many herbal things out there, but best to consult with your dr or a herbal practitioner. Even herbs can be harmful if not taken correctly.

Definitely consider seeing a dermatologist and evaluating the side effects of your medication. For example I have a reaction to antibiotics where I break out into rashes and when on prednisone I get pimples.

I'd also like to suggest taking a look at your diet. What I've found since I developed crohn's and my body has had to readjust to treatments and new lifestyle is that if I eat too much sugar at any given time I develop spontaneous, itchy rashes. once I clear the sugar out of my diet it goes away.
