weird symptoms??? Anyone else?

I've had CD for almost 5 years now and have yet to have these symptoms. Anybody else experience these?

*Pains in chest --sometimes sharp-- last only a few seconds and can come on either side; front, side or back.

* feel, for lack of better word, drunk (?) like shortly after eating. Like I'm no completely coherent or 'with it', my head has an out of it funny feeling.

*really weak shortly after eating, can't hold my 7 month old daughter with out fear I may just let go and drop her. Even my head feels too heavy. lol

* chest pressure from the top (mostly sternum area) pushing in and also feels like my gut is trying to push up into my rib cage.

I think I have some ulcers in my lower esophagus, which would be a new area, so I'll be calling my GI Monday morning. Just wanted to see if any of yall have experienced any of these.

The chest pains and pressure are signs of acid reflux/ulcers or herina's in the esohagus.

As for the the drunk and weak feelings sound like a blood sugar issue.

The only weird symptom that I've noticed after eating is gagging. I don't do it all the time. In fact it's hard to predict when I'll do it. After eating, I'll get the urge to gag, or get dry heaves. Yucky! I've been doing okay, but it still happens from time to time.

Indeed it does sound like a possible blood sugar issue. My mom had similar symptoms before she was diagnosed with diabetes. Might not be diabetes yet so best to get it checked early.

I do have pressure on my chest at times and sharp pains as well but I also have a heart condition. If nothing shows up in a barium swallow x-ray and an endoscopy then you might want to see a heart specialist to make sure it isn't anything to be concerned over and if it is, getting it taken care of sooner rather than later is always a good thing. ;) I don't know if people with Crohn's are prone to heart conditions but there seem to be many of us on the forum who do have one.

Chest pressure...yes Feels like someone is pushing on my chest sometimes makes it hard to breath for a second or two

Weak after eating...yes In fact the past couple of days I've been getting dizzy and naucious after eating

sharp pains in chest... yep Sort of feels like someone shocks you for a second then goes away also makes it hard to breath

The pressur and sharp pains in my chest I've always had problems with since high school when my doctor diagnosed me with acid reflux(I also sometimes have a cold burning at the back of my throat) *shrugs*

Hi jenny, I suffered from exactly the same symptoms for a long time. In my case it was a combination of meds and caffeine which took me a long time to figure out.

Have you ever heard of Costochondritis?
It wouldn't explain the weakness after eating..but it could possibly explain the chest pains ?
Here is a partial quote from the Mayo clinic website on it...I have this inflammatory condition and it sounds a bit like you are describing so it is at least worth looking in to ?

Costochondritis (kos-toe-KHON-dri-tis) is an inflammation of the cartilage that connects a rib to the breastbone (sternum). It causes sharp pain in the costosternal joint — where your ribs and breastbone are joined by rubbery cartilage. Pain caused by costochondritis may mimic that of a heart attack or other heart conditions.

I've met someone who had a condition where after they ate he became mentally impaired for a time afterwards. It was weird, I worked with him and after lunch he totally acted like he was stoned or drunk.

Also, you may be allergic to glueten. Ive heard that can do that as well.

Tracy- Thanks for that definition. You know, I compare it to the feeling you get when you have plurisy, just that it only lasts for a few seconds and then its gone. Plurisy is inflammation in the lining of the lungs so it would make sense if the pain I'm feeling has something to do with inflammation somewhere in my chest cavity.

Seriously, to hear "oh, it's only your crohns" is a saying that it so bittersweet. It makes me want to beat my head against the wall, but it also reassures me that....it's just crohns. lol

This is why I tell my husband to quit looking up my symptoms on WebMD (over-inflated example)----> Oh, your lymph nodes hurt?? Well you could have a dangerous, rare form of cancer and be about to die.......or you could have an autoimmune disease and be just fine. ..ha!
