weird things that make me need the bathroom

I know this sounds reeeally strange, but there are a few REALLY RANDOM things that make me need the bathroom, and I just wanted to know if I'm the only one:

-WHEN IT'S TOO QUIET- at school, during out free periods the teachers encourage us to go do work in the library instead of messing around in the common room, but everytime i go to the library i have to run to the bathroom cos the quiet makes me feel ill! so i just 'work' (mess around haha) in the common room instead.

-WHEN IT'S TOO LOUD- annoying, right? loud music makes me feel sick!

-RANDOM SMELLS- the smell of airports, cars, washing machines and a few other random things make me run to the bathroom too.

-MORNINGS- in the mornings i have to have a routine. i always have breakfast, but it's usually my modulen drink. if i eat anything else for breakfast, i have to wait an hour or two after i wake up. also, if my mom asks me what i want to eat for breakfast or if i can smell anything cooking in the morning, i feel sick!

All these things are so random and they don't even make sense! Grrr!

What are your weird things that make you need to use the bathroom? I hope they're not as random as mine haha :D

Getting on the computer. Seriously - every time I get on the computer I have to set it down briefly and then go to the washroom, then I'm good.

The brain-gut connection is huge. Your gut has about as mant receptors as your brain, or so I have heard. So it makes sense that different stimuli can make you have to go to the bathroom. Being startled or caught off guard makes me have to go, and so does worrying.

That's me totally! I've never been a breakfast person and always felt nauseous if I ate anything before like 10 or 11 AM, even before I became ill. I remember feeling that way when I was a small child, and I didn't get this gut illness until I was 30. Nowadays I usually have an Ensure in the morning after I get to work, around 8:30 AM, and even that usually makes me have to go to the bathroom too. It's kind of nice, in a way - if I'm feeling a little constipated when I wake up, I can just have breakfast and that'll get things moving! Ha ha. :)

Glad I'm not the only one who gets these strange things happening lol. One I always notice is when it gets cold or my temperature goes from hot to cold very quickly is never good for my stomach.... So going into the big cold rooms at work is a nightmare.

Believe this or not but as soon as I got close to a restroom either on the highway restaurant grocery store or just trying to get home I had to go so bad and the only way I could stop was to sit down or if I was sitting I had to push myself to sit down more. It was like my brain knew I was close and there was nothing I could do to stop this. I am now cured of that completely but those were the worst days of my life so I feel your pain totally.

For me:
sitting
standing
lying down
blinking
breathing
sleeping
driving
walking
eating
drinking
watching tv
not watching tv
being on the computer
typing
taking a shower
washing clothes
cleaning windows
doing the dishes
preparing lunch.......

Im the exact same! I can drive for four hours straight with out any urge, but as soon as I get close to where Im gonna stop, its on!
Also whenever I go to Canadian Tire or Princess auto, (two places I know has a bathroom) I have to go right away, no matter what!
The brain butt connection is crazy!!

Definitely a brain-butt connection. I often get an sudden urge when coming home, a couple blocks away. The gut knows... Then if I bump into neighbors on the elevator, the urge goes away, only to return with a vengeance once they exit. Makes me believe our whole bodies are engaged in the process of thinking.

Oh I almost forgot about Wal-mart, that place gets me too!
Its funny, as a teen, way before getting this disease, I remember every time I would go into the storage building at my dads place, as soon as I walked in the door I had to turn around and head to the bathroom. Weird I tell ya!

This... well. sorta. I'm not thirty, but...

I hate morning. I feel sick, whether I eat or not. If I smell something, I feel sick. I hate it.

Yep, me too. Anytime I sit down to "relax", be it the computer, newspaper, mail, etc...I will have at least one bathroom break.

Actually, anytime I start to "relax" the urge comes. If I'm at the store without the kids, I start to relax and will need a bathroom. As long as I'm busy, I can usually stay out of the bathroom.

Answering the phone... my close friends and family have just grown to understand. It keeps me off the cell while driving.

Coffee smell. I dont drink coffee any more but the smell still makes me wanna go to the bathroom

Standing infront of the refrigerator. Especially the industrial ones at the grosery stores, I cannot even buy a yoghurt without feeling the urge to go.

Before bedtime Like.a.clock.

Before I get into the car especially for a long drive

Right now. Sorry guys have to go

If I need to go to the grocery store after work that can sometime cause problems. The grocery store is a little ways past our house. My body starts thinking it can relax I guess because I will be home soon and have access to a bathroom, even though it's wrong!

Sometimes going to the bathroom makes me nauseous, if that makes sense. So I'm never sure which end is more pressing and I should point towards the toilet.

Certain smells like coffee and hash browns. Also putting on my jacket to go out and smoke seems to trigger it. It's supposed to be triggered by the smoking since its a diuretic but my brain has fixed it so I'll have to go if I'm getting ready to go out for a smoke. Lame.

Lol that's weird.
Anything with caffeine in it makes me go after I'm done consuming it, and If I'm cold, i got to go so much like I was hook to a IV all day.

When I lay down on my left side, which is where I am most comfortable sleeping, I have to go! I always thought it was gravity :-(

There is actually some science to that. I dont really know what it is but my girlfriend is a nurse and says that what they do to patients to make them go.

Before I was diagnosed, I used to get horrendous stomach pains every now and again (triggered by certain foods usually). The only way to get rid of them was to lie on my left side, for an hour or so. I think it's because the colon goes that way? (I mean the transverse bit goes from right to left).

My weird thing is playing poker. If I enter a tournament, I have to go to the toilet first. I presume it's nerves affecting my bowels.

I just remembered an odd one.

Before my small bowel resection in 2006, I had severe strictures and constipation. For some strange reason, going to the gym worked wonders: as soon as I arrived, the urge came and I had to head to the locker room toilet right away!

This "gym urge" stopped working after the surgery, once the BMs went back to (fairly) normal.

Hot coffee, but warm coffee is fine!
Thinking about going on a long trip any where
Knowing or thinking I have no anti-diarrhoea meds
Stress
Worry
Moving my stomach to quickly is the worst one. When I wake up in the morning and sort of "forget" and roll over to quick, there goes my lie in :(

smells.. mainly meats that are cooking, greasy things and the thought of icecream even though I love it OH SO MUCH!!!
