wel..

ive got to have a colonoscopy :( im really nervous

they had better make me very very sleeeeepy!!!!!

xx

aw good luck with it laura - when is it?

the good thing (if i really searched for a good colonoscopy thing lol) is that it doesnt take long, once they start.

hope it goes ok x

Sure you will do fine. Wishing you the best. Worst part of the scope is the prep. Get thru that, and the rest is a breeze... And the best part of the scope process is that it gives your doc's the 'best' idea of what is going on inside. It has no equal

The pictures are of high quality, and suitable for framing, depending on your decor.

Seriously, the colonoscopy is usually not that bad. I would rather have a colonoscopy than have most dental procedures.

As long as you demand to be sedated, It'll be fine.

The first I ever had was without medication of any kind. I wouldn't recommend it.

Pethidine is awesome.

I believe that when I had my colonoscopy which led to my diagnosis with Crohn's I was heavily sedated with a drug called Demirol.

This drug was magnificent for it's sedation purposes! I remember the doc. telling me to drop my shorts. The demirol made me happy to do it. Then all I remember is waking up. At the moment I became conscious back in my hospital bed I began to remember the procedure. But as quickly as I could recount it in my head it strated to disappear from my thoughts much like a dream upon waking.

My bum was slightly sore but this was the only pain I recall experiencing. I would take a colonoscopy over the upper GI x-ray, lower GI x-ray, and that procedure in which they stick a tube down your nose or throat anyday (all of which I've had).

Honestly it seems worse than it sounds. You have little to worry about.

it may well have turned out that even if they did the colonoscopy first, you might have had to have the barium meal too, anyway :(

i hope it goes ok for you.. and i absolutely agree - tell them if you're nervous, and ask for industrial strength relaxers lol

Babe there is nothing to worry about. The prep is by far the worst part. Most of us don't even recall the procedure and we certainly can't feel that we had it after it is done. Just consider it a little daytime nap. I'm always very tired afterwards and usually sleep off the drugs when I get home.
You'll be just fine! Best wishes sweetie!

it wasnt as bad as i thought lol i was sedated but could see the whole thing on a screen haha

my intestine is minging!

the sedative made me laugh lol i can remember it slightly.. the prep the day before was definatly the worst

id rather this than the barium meal though

sorry i havnt been on here in a while had loadsa things to do :(

OK, now i'm confused (right, like that's something new).. What is 'minging'?
Minging:

UK slang meaning unpleasant or ugly.
usually in reference to certain ladies (by me) ;)

Pretty stereotypical vocabulary for a resident of Stoke-on-Trent. :D
