I'm sitting here sipping (ok, closer to gulping down!) clear broth that my mom made me, watching The Bucket List on TV, and working on a brochure about "What does a serving [of protein, grains, etc.] look like?" for my dietetics research assistanceship -- all in an effort to take my mind off tomorrow's colonoscopy! And I'm actually getting a lot done, haha...

I'm more nervous for the prep I have to do tonight. It's nearly 1 in the afternoon right now and I have to drink my first 8 oz. of MoviPrep at 8:00. It's a split dose, so I drink 4 cups at night and 4 cups in the morning 5 hours before the actual procedure.

I don't know what I'm nervous about! I think I'm mostly scared that they don't find anything. I've been reading all your guys' diagnoses stories only to find out that a shockingly large number of you have not even been diagnosed, and that scares me so much. Because if I'm not diagnosed, will I just keep being in pain?

Well, I shouldn't think about that now! I'm just going to go with it and see what happens. But I just wanted to let you all know that it's finally almost time for my colonoscopy!

i just had one on Friday and only thing she found was some nodules and some inflamation and sent for biopoies so more then likely nothing again. at least you got moviprep i had to do goleyte drinking a gallon of the nasty junk.

Oh, that's good right? I mean for you, because you're already diagnosed. So it means you're doing pretty well?

I haven't been diagnosed yet, this is my first colonoscopy.

Hey, ballerina!!

Glad to hear you are coping with your jitters by being productive! I've had two colonoscopies so far, I'm sure there will be many more. Especially if you DO have Crohn's, it is recommended for us to get a scope every 5 years.

Tonight, the fireworks will begin ;), so have some good reading material in the bathroom. If you can still run to the store, buy the best TP you can find, and maybe some moist wipes. A nice scented candle, maybe? :) Make the bathroom a nice place to be!

My first colonoscopy was done while I was admitted to hospital after going in to the ER, I really didn't have any advance notice of it, only maybe 8 or so hours when I started the prep (Awful - 4L of GoLytely - at least you only have to drink 2L in total!). I was so sick that I knew it had to be done to figure out what was wrong with me. Luckily, I was diagnosed shortly afterwards and I started treatment from there.

The second one was to try to get in to a drug trial - I had about 3 weeks advance notice of the appointment this time. That was so much worse- the anxiety, the waiting, the build-up - though, I did get to use my 'home' toilet paper for the prep and was really glad for that, rather than the brutal hospital stuff. When it was all done, I thought to myself "Phew, that was no big deal."...

You can do it, ballerina! Just think, we are all rooting for you, and this is the first step on your way to discovering the problem and then treating it! Be sure to come back and tell us all about it!

afman -- gotcha; your signature mislead me ;)

chef -- I went to the store this morning and got gatorade, ginger ale, hard candies, popsicle, and WET WIPES! Haha.

I have the book The Help waiting to be re-read, and my ballet teacher (who is aware of everything that has been going on with me and is waiting just as eagerly as me to hear the results of the colonoscopy) gave me a DVD she wants me to watch. So I'm all set for tonight!

4 liters sounds terrible, it's so much of ANYthing, forget the fact that what you have to drink doesn't even taste all that great.

I am...hungry. Not too hungry as I'm used to going all day while barely eating and I've also been having a lot of caloried (sugary) drinks and candies and stuff and broth, but still I think it would be nice to have a big salad now or a sandwich or just something.

Well anyway, I'm going to relax a bit now and just roam the forum.

Just under 3 hours until the fun begins...

Ok, the prep was VILE! But I am squeaky clean now :ylol2:

Leaving to go to the hospital in about an hour. Until then...gonna let the prep finish all of its magic! And I'll hop in the shower.

Really annoying that I just had to start my period a couple days ago...well I will just tell the nurses, they'll know what to do.

I guess we'll see what happens and I'll update when I get back! After I eat a big lunch of course. I'm hungry! RAWR :cookie:

I hope it goes well, Happy Ballerina. The best thing about a colonoscopy is breaking the fast. It's sooooo nice to eat again after forced starvation. I hope they find a reason for your symptoms.

Good luck, Ballerina! I hope they find out what the problem is and you get to start on a treatment that will give you some relief. Glad for you that the prep is over. I do think the prep is way worse than the procedure! Keep us posted!!!
:) Jan
