Sorry I haven't been able to update guys...it's been crazy this last week. So, while I was waiting for the c.diff test results my symptoms just progessed to the point , I couldn't take the pain, diarrhea and vomiting anymore last Sunday.

I went to the ER, suprisingly I got in quick, followed the suggestions on this sight to vomit loudly (thanks GNC Crohn's Man!) and was put in a room right away. I got an IV and a CAT scan. I had to get a shot of Zofran to keep the barium down, and Morphine for the excruciating pain.

So, they find inflammation at the base of my stomach and in the illeum, as well as a small abcess. Doctor admitted he didn't know what to do for it and sent me home to call the doctor the following day.

My regular GI put me on 500mg Pentasa 6 times a day. I feel better, but I can't eat, even though I'm hungry. If I eat "too much" which isn't that much, I have terrible diarrhea and pain. I've lost 8 pounds in two weeks, but I was kinda chubby from pred to start with so I can stand to lose it.

Any advise for me please? It's been so long since I flared in the ileum, I forgot what to do.

What to eat? How long to give the medicine a chance before bothering my doctor again? How to rebuild my strength? This all started because I got viral pneumonia and couldn't take Remicade or MTX for a month.

I feel so bummed...:depressed:

My doctor always told me to go on a low residue/fiber diet. Basically you can eat small amounts of white rice (brown rice is harder to digest), steamed veggies that agree with you (no peels), baked chicken breast or a white fish (lighter meats are best) and drink plenty of fluids. Generally you stay away from spicy/high fiber/fried/raw/anything that brings on symptoms type of foods.

Start out slow with the food by having several small meals a day and keep drinking plenty of fluids. Have some jello too so you can at least have the feeling that you're eating something as lots of liquids tend to get boring.

I've never taken Pentasa before so maybe someone else can shine some light in that area. Always call your doctor if your symptoms worsen though.

I'm sorry you're going through this and I hope you get better real soon. :)
