Were you taken off your Crohn's drug when given prednisone?

My daughter's doctor had her stop taking Pentasa while she is on a round of prednisone. I just wondered if this is typical. Thanks!

I haven't personally been on Pentasa or Prednisone. But when I was on Imuran and complications came about I was taken off of it before going on Entocort(which is a steroid as well). Sorry I couldn't be more specific.

I started taking Pentasa while still taking prednisolone, the theory was as I tapered the steroid, Pentasa would prevent a relapse.

My son had quiet a few complications after his diagnosis that required Prednisone and Hydrocortisone to treat but he was never taken off his Imuran. This may be different though due to the amount of time that it takes for Imuran to become therapeutic.

I am on 4 gms of Pentasa and started 40 mg of Prednisone about 10 days ago. Both don't seem to have things under control so I have an MRI Thursday. They may raise my Prednisone to 60 mg.

I am taking Asacol (which is like pentasa) and prednisone taper. But.. I was on Pentasa before and was never taken off of it when I was put on prednisone.

I was given steriods to taper off while the lialda built up in my system. Then I was given more prednisone while the 6mp built up in my system. Then I was given more prednisone to stop a flare and to get me through until I got my remicade infusions started. I always took my medicines along with prednisone(so sometimes I'd be on 6mp, lialda and prednisone)

Thanks everyone, we may ask if she can continue her Pentasa while taking the prednisone. It just seems like the safer choice when she tapers off the prednisone.
