what a great website!
hi everyone
have just joined the forum after googling crohns support and finding this great resource. i'm so excited to see so much information, support and lovely caring people :ghug:
i was finally diagnosed with crohns about 6 weeks ago after developing abcesses and fistulas and ending up in hospital very unwell.
it had been a 3 year journey of of gastrointeroglogists, rheumatologists, immunologists, neurologists, blood tests, xrays, allergy tests, 2 x scopes (all unable to find a specific cause for all my symptoms).
was diagnosed with irritable bowel and chronic fatigue syndrome about 18 months ago and basically told to go and sort myself out.
even though the crohns diagnosis is rather daunting and i'm full of leaky holes for the forseeable future, it is such a relief to finally know that there is something actually physically wrong with me and i'm not just some neurotic crazy hypocondriac.
have never been one to take pills or tablets and are grabbling with so many medications and horrible side effects. have decided to just take what i'm told to at the moment.... pentasa (oral and enema), prednisone, 6MP, metroniazole and then pain killers. my tummy has settled down but the medications make me feel sick (i only have to look at them and feel nausous!)
thanks for listening. i look forward to becoming part of this community xx
